They say the greatest wealth is your health, and that’s why Orrell Park Medical Centre is committed to helping families live happier, healthier and ‘wealthier’ lives.
The Orrell Lane NHS practice is currently taking on new patients and prides itself on being more than just a doctors’ surgery.
“We’re a community partner,” says a spokesperson, “with a strong focus on caring for every member of our community, of all ages.”
And it’s got a simple goal to help it do that in the heart of Sefton where it’s based – provide compassionate care with convenience.

Aware of how frustrating or worrying it can be to wait endlessly for a phone to be answered, Orrell Park Medical Centre aims to answer patients’ calls in two minutes or less – and to make life easier still for some, it offers digital online consultation and access systems, including the NHS App.
That means you can book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, request letters and view your records whenever you want, putting you in control of your healthcare.
The medical centre, based in the old Trinity Church, plans to continue to invest in technology that speeds up the delivery of high-quality and convenient healthcare and admin tasks to make sure patients can choose which they want and what suits their lifestyle and needs best.
And more than anything, it wants to provide the best care for its community, being there when concerns arise or, better still, preventing them in the first place:
- Health needs change with age, so the team at Orrell Park offers dedicated annual health reviews for patients over 75, including frailty assessments so elderly patients get the attention and support they need
- It provides holistic wellbeing reviews for registered carers, recognising the vital role they play in looking after loved ones
- And it constantly reviews long-term conditions like diabetes, heart health and more, to make sure medication is always spot on and complications can be nipped in the bud

“We’re also working hard to support preventative care through regular childhood immunisations, seasonal flu vaccines (including gelatine-free options), and screening services for bowel, breast, and cervical cancer.
“Early detection saves lives, and we want to help everyone stay on top of their health (especially because we’ve seen a concerning drop in uptake).”
The surgery is fully accessible, with step-free access, wheelchair-friendly facilities, translation services including British Sign Language (BSL), and support for hearing impairments.
And staff at Orrell Park Medical Centre stress they serve diverse communities and understand the different cultural and financial challenges patients may face, working closely with local partners to ensure health education and support services are available to those who need them most because ‘better health outcomes start with understanding and inclusion’.
“We’re welcoming new patients with care that’s closer, kinder and connected.”
