Police renew appeal three years on from the murder of Sam Rimmer
19 seconds ago

The family of Sam Rimmer are speaking out on the third anniversary of his death, urging anyone with information to finally come forward.
Sam Rimmer was 22 when he was shot in Lavrock Bank, Dingle, just before midnight on Tuesday 16 August 2022. Two people on electric bikes fired towards a group of friends Sam was with. He was hit and, despite efforts from police and paramedics, died later in hospital.
Ten arrests have been made since the night of the shooting, but no one has yet been charged.
Sam’s mum Joanne says the pain has not eased in the three years since she lost her son.
“I died the day Sam did. I function but I do not live. Unless you have experienced the murder of your child, you cannot begin to understand the mental and emotional horror we endure daily. My appeal is to the people who know who killed Sam. Please speak up. It will be completely anonymous.”
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath says police are still determined to find those responsible.
“We know there are people in the Dingle or Toxteth area who know exactly who was involved. Any information will be handled with care and sensitivity – we can put measures in place to protect those who come forward.”
Anyone who saw the incident or knows anything about it can contact police via the Public Portal, message @MerPolCC on social media, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 22000603397.
