Port Sunlight food and drink festival forces to reschedule due to Storm Amy
41 minutes ago

Due to Storm Amy, the original date of Saturday 4 October for Sugar & Spice Festival in Port Sunlight has been cancelled and a new rescheduled date of Saturday 1 November has been announced.
Presented by Port Sunlight Village Trust and award-winning Wirral chocolatier The Chocolate Cellar, the Sugar & Spice Festival will be open to explore between 11am – 4pm. It will take over the beautiful Diamond landscaped park opposite Port Sunlight Museum in the centre of the village.
The festival will be completely free to enter and include over 40 stalls where visitors can explore and enjoy a range of flavours from around the world. From indulgent chocolate and homemade honey to authentic spiced blends and breads, the festival will offer something to suit all taste buds and give visitors the chance to discover something new.
In addition to the makers, visitors can enjoy family-friendly entertainment including live performances from the Sing The Musicals Choir and Port Sunlight Ukulele Group alongside a newly introduced wellbeing area with yoga and sound bath taster sessions with Moonbeam Yoga and Energy Works Wirral.
Families are invited to join in the festivities through an autumn-themed family trail, where they will explore the village to discover hidden acorns and claim their prize. Tickets are £6 each. Pre-booking is essential for the autumn trail and numbers are limited, so families are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
Also new for this year is a special Port Sunlight Foodie Tour where visitors can explore the hidden stories of the village’s food and drink from the past, including the chance to sample the recently rediscovered Port Sunlight Bun, an early 1900s attempt to create a distinctive pudding to rival the Eccles cake.

Charlene Davies, Learning and Audience Development Manager at Port Sunlight Village Trust, said:
“We’ve been anxiously watching the weather updates all week, but this weekend’s weather forecast caused by Storm Amy would put our visitors, vendors and performers at risk. We hope everyone will be able to join us on Saturday 1 November instead for an unmissable day out to celebrate our local makers, enjoy great food and drink, and admire Port Sunlight’s stunning autumn colours.”
Free parking is available opposite Port Sunlight Museum and on surrounding streets, however visitors are asked to be considerate of residents. Further parking available on field opposite Christ Church (corner of Church Drive and The Causeway). Accessible parking is available to Blue Badge holders at Leverhulme Hotel’s car park. Visitors are encouraged to instead travel by train on the Merseyrail network and make use of Port Sunlight or Bebington stations, both a five-minute walk away from the Diamond park opposite Port Sunlight Museum.
