Prescot Elizabethan Fayre is going to be a cracker of an event this weekend
1 year ago
Prescot’s going to be buzzing this weekend with the return of its Elizabethan Fayre to celebrate the town’s amazing heritage.
And it’s certainly one worth commemorating!
In Elizabethan times Prescot was the only place in the country other than London to have a free-standing purpose-built theatre (which is why it’s great to see new theatre and cultural venue Shakespeare North Playhouse there now).
And Cllr Tony Brennan says: “Prescot’s Elizabethan Fayre is a wonderful way to celebrate the unique history of the town and for everyone to get involved.
“The Prescot Cultural Consortium have created a programme of unique performances, activities, and crafts for everyone to enjoy.”
He adds: “The town centre’s also home to plenty of lovely shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, so visitors can spend the day experiencing everything the town has to offer.”
There’ll certainly be no shortage of things going on when the event takes place.
You can expect theatre and dance performances, circus skills, craft workshops, music, heritage walks, artisan stalls and more.
And for a flavour of Tudor history, visitors can try their hand at candle making, there’ll be musical minstrels, archery, and soldier school … and there might even be an appearance from Queen Elizabeth I herself!
When is Prescot Elizabethan Fayre?
This Saturday, June 10, from 11am to 5pm.
Where is it?
