Mavericks Dive Bar in Southport is making waves with its new pricing strategy, boldly declaring, “Let’s turn and burn!”
Mavericks Dive Bar, located on Lord Street in the ‘Northern Quarter’, is introducing a dive into new prices, offering a pint of beer for less than £2!
Kelsie Buck, General Manager of Mikhail Hotel And Leisure Group, said:
“We are going to offer a pint of Carlsberg for just £1.99; John Smiths for £2.20; Strongbow for £2.50; Fosters for £2.60; Carling for £2.75; Strongbow Dark Fruit for £3.20; San Miguel for £3.30; and Poretti for £4. If you’re more into your spirits, you can enjoy gin, vodka, rum, whiskey, and mixer for only £2.50, or double up for £4!”
Mavericks boasts a fun atmosphere with Top Gun and American-themed memorabilia and decorations, including a stunning Wurlitzer jukebox, a pool table, and both outdoor and indoor seating. The bar features a series of TV screens where guests can enjoy Euro 2024, Wimbledon, the latest sporting action, and big blockbuster movies – including, of course, Top Gun.
A highlight of Mavericks is the famous Statue of Liberty sculpture, painted by acclaimed street artist Shawn Sharpe, known for his ‘Mother’ mural in Preston.
Currently, the bar is undergoing work to introduce a new selection of draught beers and lagers, ensuring some of the best value prices in town.
Kelsie Buck said:
“We are looking forward to changing some of the pumps in Mavericks over the next few days, offering a new selection of beers for our customers to enjoy.
“We are slashing our prices, so Mavericks will be one of the cheapest bars where you can enjoy a drink in Southport. Times have become a lot tougher for everyone, so I am wanting to bring back that feeling of when you can walk into your local, with a sense of community!”
With the closure of the Willow Grove pub two years ago, Mavericks is now one of the first pubs in town to beat Wetherspoons’ prices, while still providing great music, live sport, pool, and the unique Mavericks Dive Bar atmosphere.
The new pricing comes into effect from Monday, 8 July 2024.
Mavericks is the only American-themed dive bar in town, offering a welcoming environment reminiscent of the iconic US sitcom Cheers.
A dive bar is typically a small, unpretentious drinking venue with great value drinks, neon beer signs, and a local clientele. The term ‘dive’ was first used in the US press in the 1880s to describe places often in basements into which people ‘dive below’.
Today, ‘dive bar’ is a badge of distinction for those seeking authenticity, enjoyment, and great value.
Kelsie added:
“We are looking forward to a busy summer in Southport. The Southport Air Show, one of our busiest weekends, takes place on Saturday, 13th July and Sunday, 14th July, and we will be ready to welcome everyone coming in. With our outdoor area, you can certainly take in the scenery. As Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw said: ‘It’s not the plane, it’s the pilot!’”
