Reminisce Classical is getting ready for a night of cult Scouse anthems at Grand Central Dome
3 minutes ago
It debuted at the Retrospective Festival in September 2025 but Reminisce Classical’s getting ready to go out on its own.
The ‘breath-taking orchestral evolution’ of one of the region’s favourite music events is taking place at Grand Central Dome in Liverpool at the end of the month.
And with just days to go, it’s close to selling out.
Organiser and DJ Steve Cocky admits to being a little apprehensive: “I am nervous,” he says.
But he quickly adds: “I’m excited too.
“It’s the first time we’ve really seen it and I think it’s going to be amazing.

“It’s going to have the tunes, the epic sound, the emotion and the energy. This is not a sit-back show with popcorn; people are going to be up and dancing on their feet all night.”
He smiles: “Then it’s over the road to the 051 Club for the after party!”
Reminisce Classical is a reimagining of all the well-known Reminisce anthems — re-scored, lifted and brought to life by a full orchestra.
It’s curated by Christian Davies and it’s going to be performed by a stunning live orchestra with musicians from the North West – and Liverpool and Merseyside in particular.
Steve and fellow In Demand DJ and presenter Lee Butler will host along with special guests.
“We launched Reminisce Classical at Reminisce Retrospective on the Friday night of the festival at Sherdley Park in 2025.
“It was the first year we’d done it, we spent two years building it and putting it together, and the idea was that we wanted to roll it out as its own show at some point,” Steve explains.
“Reminisce Classical is a concept Chris had wanted to develop for some time.”

Where Reminisce Classical will differ from others is its locally focused content.
“Everything we do is born and built and created out of local knowledge and feeling. Lot of people do their version of Faithless and Insomnia, all those big international records, no-one tackles a Brothers and Sisters or a Pretty Green Eyes because they’re very big cult Liverpool records.
“Maybe some of those records don’t transcend internationally, but for a local audience they’re absolutely iconic.
“To give you an example, Kristine Blond plays Reminisce every other year and she had a hit record called Love Shy that was originally a pop record. There were two big re-mixes, one of them was a garage sounding record and the other was by Electric Boutique and it had an early trance feel.
“For whatever reason the Electric Boutique version became a Liverpool classic, one of those brilliantly well-loved records in the city that became people’s wedding song, it was just mad.
“One of the first years of Reminisce there was a big headline act, a real household name, and then we had little Kristine Blond. And we couldn’t believe that all the hype and excitement was all about Kristine because Love Shy was a song that resonated so massively with Scousers.
“So that was the mentality behind Reminisce Classical. Can we do it, and can we do it with a soundtrack that’s very much in touch with our audience?”

The response was overwhelmingly positive.
Steve says: “I wasn’t surprised, but I was very pleased.
“I was confident that people would love it but there are never any guarantees. To see it happening and to get the response we did was brilliant but with this I’m a bit more nervy because it’s on its own.
“The other was part of a big show and if people didn’t like it they could walk off and watch something else, whereas this is all about Reminisce Classical and the DJs that are going to play with it.”
The venue was carefully chosen: “The Dome holds around 1,200 so it will still seem intimate and it has that theatrical feel, so it’s just perfect for it.
“Half the people coming are Reminisce people who love the music and want to see it performed by an orchestra so it’s a different vibe, and half are new customers who love their old skool but feel they’re too old for a club or maybe a muddy festival field’s not quite their thing.
“Fingers crossed, we can shift the last few tickets and have a sell-out concert. Either way it’ll be a great night, I’m pretty sure about that.”
Reminisce Classical: Grand Central Dome, Renshaw Street, Liverpool on Saturday, March 28 – 6-11pm.
