Review: Bella Italia, New Brighton “We’ll most definitely be back soon”
Food lovers listen up! Marine Point, New Brighton has welcomed a new eatery in shape of a sexy Italian! Here’s our review of newly opened Bella Italia.
First and foremost, the location of the new Bella Italia is spot on. With entrances to the glossy new restaurant from both street and dockside, the views across the beach and down the Mersey estuary (especially on a sunny day) are stunning.
We’re predicting standing room only on the dock terrace during the summer months!
The décor is a mash-up of authentic Italian fare with a contemporary twist, think humongous pepper mills, lots of glass-wear on wire rack shelving and a collection of funky framed art work. But by far the most interesting thing on show (aside from the menu) are the brightly coloured, upside down floor lamps….which are attached to the ceiling!
The restaurant was busy for a 4pm booking yet we were seated quickly in a dockside booth.
With the kids busy colouring in their activity sheets and having fun with their Bella curly straws (disappointed we forgot to ask for one ourselves) the (so-called) adults were free to browse the extensive menu.
Bella Italia offers a great variety of traditional Italian dishes, plus a kids menu dedicated to even the smallest of diners and it’s not all about pizza and pasta!
From Ella’s kitchen pouches for gummy babies to those who like to sink their teeth into a big old steak, there is something for everyone. The dessert menu deserves a special mention as where else are you encouraged to mix and match 3 different puddings to make into 1? That’s our kind of deal!
Check out the full menu here.
We ordered some old school classics, lasagne and Spag Bol and they did not disappoint. Dining with kids can be tricky at times and the staff here go the extra mile to take the stress away.
The kids’ meals were at ready-to-eat temperature when served and their desserts arrived as soon as the last string of spaghetti was hoovered up, allowing the adults to enjoy a piping hot meal (and a little bit of colouring in).
The restaurant has a genuine relaxed feel to it, from the mellow music to the friendly staff, never too busy to chat with the kids and take a family photo. The service is fast and efficient and the portions plentiful.
We’ll most definitely be back soon to share a dessert or three and a magnificent sunset view.
