River of Light Trail: Watch as we meet the artists behind the stunning Rainbow Bridge
3 years ago
The Rainbow Bridge is a 75 foot wide, 30 foot high, 4 foot deep walkable sculpture covered in multicolored LED’s and you can check it out on the River of Light Trail right now.
The River Of Light Trail is on until Monday 5 April and lit up 6pm to 10.30pm every evening. You’ll find 11 audio and video installations from local, national and international artists.
Among the artworks on display you’ll find the 30.5m long and nine-metre high Rainbow Bridge, made up of more than 25,000 LEDs.
The arch serves as a cheerful landmark by day and a stunning light show by night.
The Looking Up Arts Foundation are the brains behind the stunning structure and they say:
“We love rainbows, because they evoke love, magic, hope, inclusivity, and wonder.”
“Rainbow Bridge has 15,000 lbs of steel framing, clad with wood panels painted the iconic colors. At night she sparkles with over 25,000 LEDs, connected by nearly a mile of wiring. Those LEDs display beautiful animations, which react to sound, so the experience of Rainbow is constantly fresh and dynamic.”
Rainbow Bridge first debuted at Burning Man Festival  in 2018, since then it has visited Art Basel Miami (2018), EDC Las Vegas (2019), and Blink Cincinnati (2019).
As well as Rainbow Bridge you can also find Light A Wish on the pier Head, Neighbourhood on Castle Street and Talking Heads outside the Hilton Hotel.
