Robbie Fowler takes on India cycle challenge in support of Zoe’s Place
6 months ago
This November, 50 fundraisers will embark on the challenge of a lifetime, cycling an impressive 450km across the breathtaking landscapes of India to support Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.
Zoe’s Place recently launched an urgent Capital Appeal to raise £3.5 million for a new, state-of-the-art facility in West Derby, as the lease on their current hospice expires next year.
Funds raised from the Cycle India Challenge will directly support the appeal, ensuring Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice can continue its vital work for babies and families throughout the North West.
Adding star power to the event, Liverpool Football Club legend Robbie Fowler, along with Have A Word podcast hosts, Adam Rowe and Dan Nightingale, will join the team of intrepid cyclists as they navigate India’s diverse landscape, from bustling cities to tranquil countryside.
Robbie Fowler said:
“Basically to see if I can do it! Being an ex-sportsman, I’m quite competitive so I think we’ll
all drive each other on.
“For me, it’s also about being part of a team again, it’ll be a fabulous occasion, raising money with good people as well.”
Plans for the new hospice at the former Bowling Green, Haymans Green, West Derby were submitted to the council in March.
This week, the budding cyclists visited the proposed site to hear about what was in store for the new hospice, which is set to open in the charity’s 30th year.
Adam Rowe, comedian and Have a Word podcast co-host, said:
“Zoe’s Place is somewhere that I have worked and raised money for since being in school; it’s a charity that’s always stuck with me – you look at the work they do and it’s absolutely unbelievable.
“I think the plans for the new home look incredible; it’s important that Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice stays in West Derby so the next generation can have the same affinity that we’ve got and continue to support it.”
Gina, Senior Corporate & Major Donor Fundraiser at Zoe’s Place, said:
“We are thrilled and deeply grateful for the incredible commitment shown by our supporters.
“The Cycle India Challenge is not just about raising funds, it’s about coming together to
support our vision of providing a home-from-home for every child and family in need.
“With the backing of Robbie Fowler, Adam Rowe, and all of our amazing cyclists, we are confident that we will reach our goal.”
