Royal Court Liverpool announces Christmas Selection Box shows

The show will go on at Liverpool’s Royal Court this Christmas as the theatre has unveiled a special Selection Box which will feature a mix of comedy and music with a whole host of familiar faces.

This year’s show will be a scaled back, socially distanced affair but it will have all of the usual ingredients. Lots of live music, laugh out loud comedy and plenty of fun to be had by all! The show will be Developed and Directed by Stephen Fletcher with additional material by the cast. Musical Direction is by Howard Gray.

To enable the theatre to employ as many actors as possible and keep them all safe backstage, the cast will change throughout the run of shows with half a dozen appearing every night.  Names already confirmed include: Roy Brandon, Eithne Browne, Jamie Clarke, Michael Fletcher, Stephen Fletcher, Lindzi Germain, Cath Rice, Andrew Schofield, Hayley Sheen, Michael Starke, Keddy Sutton and Liam Tobin with more being added day by day.

The venue has put in a wide range of safety plans, including socially distanced cast and audience, temperature checks, new cleaning procedures, enhanced table service and one way systems. There will be paperless tickets, lots of hand sanitizer and antibacterial door handles & menus.

For people worried about not being able to attend or shows being cancelled, The Royal Court guarantees to refund or exchange tickets for anybody affected by Covid or if any performances are cancelled.

The staff will all be wearing facecoverings and audiences will be asked to do the same while moving around the building. Once they are in their socially distanced seats, they can keep it on or take it off when eating or drinking.

Tickets are £18 for matinees and £24 for evening shows with two course meals available in the stalls for an extra £17. In accordance with current regulations, group sizes will be a maximum of six from the same household.

Kevin Fearon, Executive Producer at the Court, is looking forward to seeing audiences in the building again:

“After the year we’ve all had it is a real treat to know that we are going to have an audience back in the building. We can’t wait to see all of the cast, crew and our regulars back enjoying themselves. Everybody has been really understanding as we have moved shows and tickets around so it feels good to give them something back. We have got plans in place for more shows in the new year so if all goes well over Christmas we can look forward to a busy 2021!”
