Royal Court’s next Christmas show has already smashed box office records
7 months ago
Liverpool’s Royal Court has smashed its box office record for opening day sales of a Christmas show, as 12k tickets were sold for Scouse Red Riding Hood in its first 24 hours.
Written by Kevin Fearon and with Musical Direction from Howard Gray, and directed by Mark Chatterton, it’s the team that brought Liverpool The Scouse Cinderella, The Scouse Snow White and The Scouse Jack & The Beanstalk.
Christmas is coming and nan is laid up as her sciatica is giving her gyp. It’s down to Little Red and her mate Big Blue to get out to her cottage in Spinney Woods with a proper scran. She wants some of that CBD rubbing oil you get from the place in St John’s that does the Spanish cleaning products too.
There are strange creatures that lurk in Spinney Woods but they meet a lad with a big chopper who makes them feel safe. They’d better watch out for the beasties and bugs. The snakes and scorpions. The woollybacks and… wolves!
The show opens on 8th November and runs until 18 January 2025.
Kevin Fearon, Executive Producer at Liverpool’s Royal Court says:
“The Christmas Show regularly sells out but to see such enthusiasm at Easter does give you a little boost! Last year’s show came on the back of a record breaking year at the Royal Court, but we’re always very aware at the Royal Court that this is a two way street. We are passionate about our audience and giving them a brilliant night out, and we’re lucky our audience is just as determined to have a great time.”
Scouse Red Riding Hood isn’t the only Christmas show coming to Liverpool’s Royal Court this festive season.
At the Royal Court Studio enjoy festive shows from 19 November with two shows presenting the very best in emerging and grassroots talent in Scouse land.
