With just two weeks to go until top British comedians hit the stage in Bootle, now is the perfect time to secure a ticket for the Salt and Tar Comedy Weekender.

Organised by Big Comedy UK, the Salt and Tar Comedy Weekender will take place from Thursday 23 – Sunday 26 May 2024, promising a weekend of laughter and entertainment.

Starting at just £5 per ticket, the comedy bonanza offers an affordable and unforgettable experience for comedy lovers of all ages.

This year, there’s a special twist: a charity event will kick off the weekend of entertainment. Over the past six weeks, a group of Sefton residents have been honing their comedy skills at a series of workshops. On opening night, they’ll have the chance to put their training into action at their first-ever stand-up gig.

Sponsored by Dowhigh, the night will raise money for local charity Ykids, adding heartwarming generosity to the lineup of laughs.

The weekend heats up on Friday evening with the headline act Gary Delaney, known for his appearances on Live at the Apollo and Mock the Week. Delaney is joined by local comedian Katie Tracey and Brennan Reece.

Saturday offers family-friendly fun during the day with comedy bingo and the return of Britain’s Got Talent’s Steve Royle. As the sun sets, Bingo Nights UK will take the stage, bringing the party vibes with their ever-popular Disco Bingo.

Sunday keeps the laughter rolling with John Harding’s Magic Show during the day, followed by performances from Seann Walsh, Hal Cruttenden, and Peter Rethinasamy in the evening, ensuring the weekend goes out with a bang.

Throughout the event, guests can enjoy delicious food and drink provided by Salt and Tar regulars The Bus Yard and Bun & Pickle. While the comedy events require tickets, the rest of Salt and Tar will remain open from Friday – Sunday at no cost.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, leader of Sefton Council, said:

“Last year’s Comedy Weekender was great fun, and I can’t wait to see how this year builds on it.

“Salt and Tar has gone from strength to strength, drawing crowds from all over the world, and this year’s programme of events further proves what a fantastic venue it is.

“I’d recommend getting your tickets now before they sell out, it’s sure to be a brilliant event.”

Last month, over 2000 attendees helped Salt and Tar celebrate its official launch with the help of venue ambassadors Red Rum Club.

With a full programme of events over the summer, including the highly anticipated Music Weekender featuring Tom Jones and Status Quo, Salt and Tar continues to establish itself as a must-visit destination for entertainment in Bootle and beyond.
