From 11am to 2pm on 6 December, Father Christmas will be stopping in at Hoylake RNLI lifeboat station and inviting children and families to join him for a memorable experience alongside the charity’s volunteer lifesavers.

Young visitors will have the chance to meet Father Christmas and take a special photograph with him. They will also receive an exclusive RNLI goodie bag as a gift to take home.

Children are also encouraged to bring a letter for Father Christmas to post back to the North Pole – providing an email address so he can reply personally to each one.

Taking place in the lifeboat station, visitors will also have a chance to see Hoylake RNLI’s all-weather Shannon class lifeboat Edmund Hawthorn Micklewood and Inshore Rescue Hovercraft Hurley Spirit.

Entry to the event will be free and donations are warmly welcomed to support the lifesaving work of Hoylake RNLI this winter.

Brian Jordan, Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Visits Officer, said:

“We are thrilled to be welcoming Father Christmas to the lifeboat station for the very first time this year. We can’t wait to open the boathouse doors to our local community so they can share in this special Christmas experience. Come on down and celebrate the festive season, while supporting our volunteer crew and helping them save lives at sea.”

Matt Pownall-Jones, Hoylake RNLI Second Coxswain, said:

“Even at this time of year, people still get into difficulty on and around the water. We’re all prepared to leave our own celebrations with friends and family to help them. But as volunteers, our crew couldn’t launch without kind donations from the public to save others and to get them home safely.”

RNLI lifeboat crews across the UK and Ireland will be on call 24/7 throughout the Christmas period. On average, RNLI lifeboats launch over 100 times during the Christmas period every year.

Whatever winter weather throws at them, RNLI volunteers will be ready to battle the elements to save lives at sea. These rescues, and others all year round, are only made possible by the RNLI’s generous supporters. Your own Christmas gift to the RNLI will keep the charity’s crews prepared and protected, helping to fund the essential kit, training and equipment.

Make a donation to the RNLI’s Christmas Appeal and help the charity to continue its lifesaving work here.
