We’ll talk to anyone, we’ll carry your shopping and hold the door for you too.
In a poll of more than 2,000 people, Liverpool has been voted the kindest city in the UK, and we’re properly chuffed with that. Never one to shy away from striking up a conversation, having a good laugh sharing jokes or offering a hand with directions, luggage, or restaurant recommendations, us Scousers are a kind-hearted lot and now the rest of the UK has come catching up to do!
Kindness runs in our veins with sentiments that we stand by and pass on to future generations. It’s no gimmick, we’re just nice people who value family, friendship and football in equal measure.
Hotel brand, Travel Lodge carried out the survey ahead of Random Acts of Kindness Day, Saturday 17th February 2018 and asked people about who went the extra mile for them. Apparently, half of all Scouser’s carry out an act of random kindness every day and get a rush from knowing they’re made life a little easier for others. Liverpool beat off stiff competition from the likes of York, Manchester and Aberdeeen, which came second, third and fourth respectively, but our amazing city and it’s inhabitants topped the bill with 55% of the vote.

Travel Lodge respresentative, Shakila Ahmed said: “A random act of kindness can be something very small but it can have a major impact on someone’s life. Every day we see random acts of kindness being performed from our hotel teams across our 542 UK Travelodge hotels.
One hotel manager offered to be a city tour guide for a couple traveling from Canada and a receptionist went the extra mile and decorated a couple’s bedroom with red roses on the day of their surprise engagement. This research shows we are certainly a nation that likes to dish out random acts of kindness, which is a powerful force as receiving kindness not only improves our happiness, physical health but our general well being.”
