Liverpool is no stranger to going all out for Christmas.
From the sparkling lights of the city’s Christmas markets to the festive events taking place across Liverpool ONE, we’re a city that truly embraces the spirit of the season.
And now, Scousers have another reason to celebrate their love for the most wonderful time of the year – we’ve been revealed as the second-biggest spenders on Christmas presents in the UK, just behind London.
A new survey by Compare the Market shows that Liverpool residents spend an impressive £787.10 annually on gifts for their families, making them the most generous gift-givers outside the capital.
That’s an average of £65.59 a month, showcasing how Scousers love to spoil their loved ones not just at Christmas, but all year round.
Whether it’s for birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions, Liverpool’s reputation for generous giving is undeniable.
For Liverpool, Christmas isn’t just about presents – it’s about the experience of coming together as a community.
The city’s streets are alive with festive events, from carol concerts at St. George’s Hall and Liverpool Cathedral to the Festive Wonderland at the Royal Albert Dock. This shared joy spills over into gift-giving, with Scousers often going the extra mile to make their loved ones feel cherished.
So, as the countdown to Christmas continues and Scousers fill their stockings with gifts for family and friends, one thing is clear: our city’s big heart and festive cheer make it a place that truly knows how to celebrate the magic of the season.
