Shawshank Redemption voted as Liverpool’s favourite movie

A new survey for ODEON Limitless reveals Liverpool residents could watch Shawshank Redemption on repeat and never tire of it

New research from ODEON Limitless has today revealed Shawshank Redemption is the film that Liverpudlians would most like to watch over and over again.

The new poll from ODEON Limitless* saw Shawshank Redemption voted the most popular choice with over 1/4 (26 per cent) of respondents saying that they would choose to watch the beloved classic over a list of 100 of the most popular films of all time.

The iconic tale of mate-ship beat out stiff competition from the likes of Die Hard, which came in second with 23 percent of the vote, and other classics such as Titanic and Dirty Dancing.

The survey, conducted by ODEON Cinemas to celebrate its new Limitless card, that offers limitless films for just £17.99 a month**, has uncovered Liverpool’s film going habits, showing themselves to be popcorn-craving, thrill seekers.

The research revealed:

• Half (49 per cent) of Liverpudlian film-fans favour thrillers over comedies (44 per cent) and action films (44 per cent)
• Over half (51 per cent) reach for popcorn to satisfy their cinema cravings, over other popular snacks, Pick ‘n’ Mix (22 per cent) and Ice Cream (26 per cent).
• Men in Liverpool are twice as likely to see a film at least once every two weeks compared to women.
• Showing Liverpudlians to be true cine-files at heart, 43 per cent of respondents go to the cinema to catch the latest new release films while over 20 per cent of respondents between 45 -54 years of age revealed they go to the cinema as a way to spend quality time with family.
