Smithdown Festival back for 2026 with huge Bank Holiday line-up
40 seconds ago
Following the triumphant success of its 10th Birthday last year, Smithdown Festival is back this May Bank Holiday with a packed programme of live music, community events and fundraising across South Liverpool.
Running from Friday 1st-4th May, the much-loved free festival returns following last year’s 10th anniversary celebrations, bringing together emerging talent and established acts in venues along Smithdown Road.
More than just a music weekend, the festival also raises money for The Whitechapel Centre, supporting its work tackling homelessness and loneliness in the city.

From Bean There Coffee Shop through to Black Cat, bars, cafés and venues will once again host an eclectic mix of performances, with something for every taste.
Handyman returns as the main stage, with Silent-K kicking things off on Friday, Psycho Comedy headlining Saturday, and Sound Together Choir opening Sunday’s line-up. Festival organisers have also teased a couple of special guest appearances across the weekend.
Black Cat is set to host one of its most diverse line-ups yet, welcoming acts including Sheffield rock duo The Bad Actors, Manchester jazz-funk band Flat Moon, and Liverpool favourites Motel Sundown, DSM IV and The Pintucos. Its Big Bank Holiday Hangover Quiz will also return on the Monday, complete with free chip butties for those taking part.
Luminous will once again transform into a live music venue, with a Saturday takeover curated by Music Seen, spotlighting women and trans artists, followed by Queensway DJs. Indie band Traits headline a strong Sunday bill.
Elsewhere, Bean There will host Capeesh CIC, showcasing young singer-songwriters, while Plazzy Bags brings back her spoken word night. Beeswing’s beer garden will also provide a more laid-back setting with acoustic performances throughout the weekend.

While the popular outdoor family days are on pause this year due to venue changes, organisers say there will still be plenty for families to enjoy, with activities planned across locations including So Curious, Quaker Gardens and Garmoyle Gardens.
New for 2026 is ‘In Analog!’, an exhibition by Belgian artist Benjamin Schoos, featuring large-scale banner artworks inspired by Liverpool. The installation opens on 1 May and runs for two weeks, alongside a live performance at Handyman.
The festival is also partnering with Autism In Motion to deliver a dedicated programme for children with Special Educational Needs, including a sensory disco, messy play and creative workshops.
Smithdown Festival remains free to attend, with full line-up details available online.
