160 acts will be performing across venues on the famous Liverpool street with Handymans, Kelly’s Dispensary, Craft Taproom, Franks, Naked Lunch, Smithdown Social, Defend Vinyl, Tiny Ricks, Bean There, Belzan, The Brookhouse and The Willow Bank all hosting live shows.
There will be also be a kids area in the Mystery Gardens on the 4th & 5th May, in association with Marmalade Skies and Alder Hey. Festival-goers can expect storytelling, music, crafts, science and tasty Italian street food from Fritto as well as a BBQ, all making it a fun family time from 11am-4pm.
Smithdown Festival will also be teaming up with the wonderful Liverpool Cares to bring a program of free events that aim to bring together older and lonely people.
Due to funding issues, the Main Stage arena in Mystery Park will not be returning for this year’s event but organisers have confirmed it will be back in 2020.
Festival Manager, Kevin McArthur said “We’re hosting events over the whole of May which incorporate all aspects of the Main arena, whilst the search for a suitable alternative carries on. As always, the festival will be supporting The Whitechapel Centre with collections taking place at the many events from 1st weekend to the last.“
May 12th will see a Market day specialising in arts & crafts and vegan goods in Handyman and Craft Taproom, whilst on May 18th, Smithdown’s first ever Food Slam is guaranteed to be a highlight.
