Sefton Council is celebrating another successful year for Southport Air Show, which once again proved to be a highlight of the summer events calendar despite the challenging weather conditions on Saturday.

Thousands of people visited Southport over the weekend of Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August to enjoy breathtaking aerial displays along the stunning Sefton coastline.

Although the weather on Saturday required adjustments to the flying schedule in the interest of public safety, the event continued to offer an unforgettable experience for aviation enthusiasts and families.

Sunday’s displays wowed the crowds with thrilling aerobatics, historic aircraft, and world-class performances that reaffirmed Southport Air Show’s reputation as one of the UK’s premier aviation events.

“Alongside the spectacular flying displays, the event delivers a significant boost to the local economy, attracting thousands of visitors who enjoy Southport’s vibrant shops, restaurants, and attractions.

“We’re proud to host an event that creates such a positive impact for our businesses and community.”

The team consists of 11 pilots, nine of whom fly in the display, and more than 100 support personnel and technicians. Each of the pilots has previous fast-jet, operational experience flying the Tornado, Typhoon or Harrier, enabling the RAF to secure the skies and protect the nation

Over the weekend, visitors explored interactive exhibits, family-friendly activities and a wide range of food and drink options, before heading into Southport town centre to enjoy its vibrant hospitality scene.

Southport is now gearing up for the British Musical Fireworks Championships, taking place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September 2025 in the town’s Victoria Park.

This spectacular event combines stunning pyrotechnics with perfectly choreographed music and for the first time ever, a brand-new drone light show will add an extra dimension to the experience. Together these displays promise an unforgettable weekend for all ages.
