It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas â and there are few places more festive on Merseyside right now than Southport Pleasureland.
Memories are made there all year round, but theyâre more magical than ever now that the park has been transformed into a winter wonderland with Christmas trees and stunning lights â and itâs welcomed a very special visitor too!
âWe want everyone to come and enjoy it, and have a really good time,â says Norman Wallis, CEO of Pleasureland. âItâs been a hard year for everyone, letâs face it, but now we want to treat people to a little festive cheer which has never been more deserved, or more needed.
âPutting smiles on familiesâ faces is what we do best, and we canât wait to do it again this Christmas. We greeted visitors last weekend and it was wonderful to see everyone having so much fun, and the feedback has been so positive.
âWe welcomed one young boy who comes here every year, with his mum, all the way from Leeds. And another family got in touch to say how much theyâd enjoyed their visit, how beautiful and festive the park was and for âgiving us families a real festive treat after such a tough yearâ. That means a lot to us.
âNow we want to give more families the same!â
Southport Pleasureland will be open from December 19 through to Christmas Eve.
As well as turning the park into a fabulous, festive, fun-filled family attraction, its little elves have been busy building Santaâs Workshop and grotto.
Visitors can go to the station and board the Santa Express for a very special ride, watching the elves hard at work creating the toys for Santa to deliver and past a host of fabulous festive scenes from sleeping polar bears to colourful Christmas caves.
Thereâs a walkway to see Father Christmas and have a photograph taken, before getting the chance to chat to the North Poleâs most famous VIP and be presented with a quality gift. This amazing experience can be added to your booking at checkout.
If that wasnât enough, guests can enjoy a Festive Market with dozens of food and drink stalls selling a selection of tasty cheeses, wonderful waffles and donuts, continental meats and Yorkshire pudding wraps, along with warming wines, and beautiful artisan crafts.
And, if you want to recreate a scene from all the best greetings cards, you can get your skates on and glide around a fabulous rink. Who needs Central Park when the best Christmas day out is right here in your favourite seaside resort?!
âAnd, of course,â says Norman, âas well as all of this, we have got all of our favourite rides and attractions for people to enjoy, from the flying swings to the funhouse, to the snake slide and the twister and, donât forget, when people are here they can go on as many rides, as many times as they want.â
He adds: âWe have worked really hard to offer people an amazing time, and we feel we are offering people something really unique this year. Thereâs really nowhere like it in the whole of the Liverpool City Region or, even, north west, so weâre very proud of what we have to offer.Â
âWeâve got Christmas music playing and we are here to entertain, and to give people a great experience. The park is looking really good and when dusk falls and the lights are sparkling, it looks amazing. Truly magical.â
Anyone wanting to visit must book online in advance to enjoy the park, its rides and all its spaces (although other activities are extra).
And the park has introduced full Covid-19 security measures to make sure everyone is safe, in line with Government guidelines.
âWe promise a really special day out and hours of fun,â says Norman. âHowever cold it is, youâre guaranteed a warm welcome here at Southport Pleasureland, and people can leave their cares at the entrance and come in and have the best time.â
The gates open at 11am and the fun and rides begin at 12 noon.
âSo come along and see us,â says Norman. âChristmas starts here.â
