Speke residents are getting ready for a big community celebration this Saturday as SpekeFest25 takes over Speke Adventure Playground and the Lifestyles Austin Rawlinson car park.
SpekeFest25 is running from 12pm to 6pm on Saturday 30 August, the free family-friendly event will showcase everything that makes Speke such a strong, diverse and welcoming community.
Organised by Liverpool City Council, Speke Adventure Playground and South Liverpool Homes, the day will be packed with live music from local performers, a free funfair for all ages and complimentary meals provided by the Rapid Relief Team.
Dozens of community organisations will also be on hand, including the South Liverpool Domestic Violence Service and the Anthony Walker Foundation, offering advice, support and information for residents.
This year’s SpekeFest also marks 50 years of Speke Adventure Playground – a much-loved hub that’s been supporting children and families since 1975 with free play and activities that help with early years, growth and development.
Councillor Laura Robertson-Collins, Cabinet Member for Communities, Neighbourhoods and Streetscene, said:
“SpekeFest25 gives residents a brilliant chance to celebrate everything that’s great about Speke’s community spirit, as well as its diversity. Events like this help build stronger connections between neighbours and create a more inclusive environment for everyone.”
Kimberley Preston, Centre Manager at Speke Adventure Playground, said:
“We are incredibly proud to be celebrating 50 years of Speke Adventure Playground at SpekeFest25. This milestone is not just about our history, but about the amazing community that has supported us every step of the way.
SpekeFest25 promises a full day of entertainment, food, family activities and community pride – shining a spotlight on the people and organisations who make Speke such a special place.”
