St George’s Hall Summer Arts Market makes it 2016 return

The fourth annual Summer Arts Market will take place at St George’s Hall on Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 June 2016 from 10am – 5pm.

Now in its fourth year, this bustling market will feature work from more than 130 artists, designers and makers selling thousands of items; everything from intricate jewellery, accessories and beauty products to screen prints, home wares, greetings cards, textiles, photography, paintings, handmade chocolate and much more. There will also be a vintage fair upstairs in the sumptuous surroundings of the Concert Room for lovers of all things retro. It’s one of the best independent shopping experiences in the city!

The Summer and Winter Arts Markets are organised by local social enterprise Open Culture, who have been working in partnership with St George’s Hall to stage the events since 2009. The aim of the markets is to provide the public with the opportunity to purchase unique, affordable products directly from artists and makers themselves, supporting independent creative businesses, promoting local talent and keeping money local.

Shoppers needing a break can relax in the café at the North Entrance, with locally-sourced food including hearty breakfasts, hot and cold lunch options, hot and cold drinks and delicious cakes to suit every taste.

A children’s Craft Lab workshop will also take place throughout the weekend with the Silly Scientists of KECS Creative offering children and families the chance to build their own summery artwork to take away!

Charlotte Corrie, director of Open Culture, said: ‘We’re really excited to be bringing the Summer Arts Market back to St George’s Hall for a fourth year. Our biannual markets just keep getting bigger and better and we’re always excited to be able to showcase such a fantastic range of work by local and regional artists and makers; it really shows the depth of creative talent here in Liverpool and the surrounding boroughs’.
