St George’s Hall unveils brand new Stable Gallery with powerful debut exhibition
2 days ago

The Stable Gallery, set within the historic St George’s Hall, will officially open its doors in style with a powerful first exhibition titled Liverpool’s Crowning Culture.
Created by the City Halls team, the Stable Gallery promises to be a fresh home for creativity and culture in the heart of the city, offering local artists from across the Liverpool City Region a platform to share their work in one of the most striking venues around.
The debut exhibition, Liverpool’s Crowning Culture, is a celebration of Black culture and creativity in Liverpool. From stunning displays of Afro hair artistry and vibrant African fashion to hands-on styling workshops and personal stories, the show takes a deep dive into identity, heritage and the role art plays in shaping how communities are seen and understood.
A spokesperson for City Halls said:
“This exhibition invites reflection on the significance of Afro hair as a symbol of cultural pride and resilience. By weaving together personal stories and artistic expressions, it shines a light on Black identity, its evolution, and the power of art to challenge historical narratives and shape a more inclusive future.”
The launch of Stable Gallery marks an exciting new chapter in the city’s ever-evolving arts scene. With its first exhibition setting such a powerful tone, the gallery looks set to become a go-to space for celebrating the creativity, heritage and diversity that make Liverpool what it is.
