Embark on a journey through time at St George’s Hall next week, and step into the shoes of a Victorian prison guard as part of an exciting new addition to the iconic venue’s visitor experience.
The History Whisperer, a beloved attraction at the historic hall, has undergone a transformation, introducing a compelling new character – The Warder.
This immersive exhibition promises to take guests on a captivating journey through the lesser-known corners of St George’s Hall, offering a glimpse into its fascinating history.
Utilising cutting-edge augmented reality technology, the extended History Whisperer will guide visitors through a series of engaging experiences. From walking through old prison cells to crossing bridges and exploring subterranean areas, guests will uncover the secrets of St George’s Hall in a whole new light.
One highlight of the exhibition is the opportunity to visit the Engine Room, where the inner workings of the original heating and ventilation system that pioneered St George’s Hall as the world’s first fully air-conditioned public building will be on display.
Supported by The Wolfson Foundation, The Warder’s narrative comes to life through a remarkable creative collaboration.
Visuals crafted by Gazooky Studios, alongside Immersive Interactive’s dynamic exploration of history, and soundscapes and visuals provided by Music in Mind and CineTecture, promise to captivate the audience.
For the first time, visitors will have the freedom to explore The History Whisperer at their own pace, with no timed slots required.
Additionally, larger groups can now enjoy the experience without the need for pre-booking, allowing for a more spontaneous and accessible visit.
The History Whisperer: The Warder is set to open its doors to the public on Friday, April 26, inviting all to immerse themselves in the rich history and intrigue of St George’s Hall like never before.
