Strictly winner and wildlife star Hamza Yassin heading to Southport Flower Show 2025
18 hours ago

There’s a star-studded line-up at this year’s Southport Flower Show – and nature lovers are in for a treat as wildlife cameraman, presenter and Strictly champ Hamza Yassin gets set to take to the Garden Theatre stage on Saturday 16 August.
Known for his infectious enthusiasm and passion for the natural world, Hamza Yassin has become a favourite with viewers of all ages. He’s brought the beauty of the British countryside into living rooms across the country with hit TV shows including BBC’s Wild Isles, Countryfile, and Animal Park, and for younger fans, he’s instantly recognisable as Ranger Hamza from CBeebies shows Let’s Go For A Walk and Eco Quest.
His 2024 documentary Hamza’s Wild Isles was a huge success, and later this year he’ll return to screens with a brand new BBC series Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles. He’s also shared his wildlife knowledge and camera skills on ITV’s This Morning, The One Show, and Channel 4’s Scotland: My Life in the Wild.
If that wasn’t enough, in 2022 Hamza danced his way to victory on Strictly Come Dancing, lifting the glitterball trophy with his professional partner Jowita Przystal.

Visitors to this year’s show will get the chance to hear from Hamza himself during two Q&A sessions taking place in the Garden Theatre at 12pm and 3pm. Expect stories from behind the camera, insights into his favourite wildlife moments, and a few Strictly tales thrown in for good measure.
Alan Adams, General Manager of the Southport Flower Show, said: “We can’t wait to welcome Hamza to this year’s show. I’m sure his Q&A sessions will be hugely popular, so get there early to grab your seats.”
Away from the screen, Hamza is a passionate ornithologist and birdwatcher. His first book Be a Birder gave beginners a friendly and practical introduction to birdwatching, and he followed it up with a children’s book Hamza’s Wild World in 2024, designed with dyslexic-friendly layouts in partnership with Dyslexia Scotland. His latest book, Homeward Bound: the joy of nature and my life outdoors, is due out in autumn 2025.
The Southport Flower Show takes place at Victoria Park from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 August and promises four days of stunning garden displays, food and drink, entertainment and family fun.
Tickets are available now at www.southportflowershow.co.uk, with discounted prices for early bookings.
