Sugababes’ Heidi Range, recently visited her old primary school, Holy Rosary Catholic Primary School in Aintree, reconnecting with her roots to support the charity’s annual Childhood Day.

NSPCC Childhood Day is set to take place on Friday, June 7, with numerous primary schools across the North West and the rest of the UK participating in fun activities and fundraising efforts for the NSPCC.

During her visit, Heidi engaged in various fundraising activities, lending a helping hand during the Childhood Day Mile alongside pupils and staff. This event encourages children to complete a mile through various fun activities, raising essential funds for the charity’s work.

As an NSPCC Campaigner for Childhood, Heidi has been a dedicated supporter of the charity. She previously interviewed NSPCC real-life story volunteer Roxy Longworth for Hello! magazine to discuss issues of online safety and abuse.

Heidi has also created online content supporting the charity’s Talk PANTS campaign and continues to be an advocate for the NSPCC’s initiatives.

At Holy Rosary, the Sugarbabes singer held a Q&A session during the school assembly, offering inspiration and answering questions from the pupils.

She also led the countdown for the Childhood Day Mile, where children enthusiastically moved a mile around the school field to the soundtrack of the Sugababes’ greatest hits, celebrating their efforts for a worthy cause.

Every pound raised through these activities supports the NSPCC’s vital work in protecting children and advocating for their safety.

Heidi said:

“I’ve had an amazing time coming back to Holy Rosary and seeing all the children fundraising for Childhood Day.

“Fun events like this really bring families and communities together and I’d encourage everyone to get involved with Childhood Day to raise funds for vital services and create awareness.

“Working with the NSPCC is a no-brainer for me, what they are doing is so important, and it means so much as I have two young daughters.”

One of the pupils, Martha, 11 said:

“It’s so great to have Heidi at the school, I do a lot of dancing and want to be a singer when I grow up so it was brilliant to hear Heidi’s songs and have a dance.”

Another pupil, Ruby, 10, said:

“I thought it was brilliant, exciting to meet Heidi, my Mum is a massive fan of the Sugababes, so she was really happy about today.  I loved having a laugh with my friends doing the Childhood Day mile, it’s been such a fun day.”

Holy Rosary Catholic Primary School Headteacher, Marianne Stevenson, said:

“It’s been fabulous, we’ve worked with the NSPCC for many years. It’s so important children have awareness about Childhood Day and the charity’s work, and it’s been made so special by Heidi being here today.

“It was wonderful listening to Heidi talk to the children about her dream to be a singer and the fact she kept going despite knockbacks. It shows resilience and that’s what we’re trying to teach the children.”

Heidi also went to the NSPCC North West Hub, The Hargreaves Centre, in Liverpool, to meet staff and see the local services the charity provides.

Katie Fudge, NSPCC Schools Development Manager, said:

“We can’t thank Heidi enough for supporting us this Childhood Day, a day that brings everyone together to have fun and help keep children safe.

“However, you’re celebrating this year’s Childhood Day, thank you for supporting the NSPCC.”
