Sweet tooth? Here are 10 of the best dessert shops in Liverpool
5 years ago
Dessert Shops in Liverpool are getting sweeter and we LOVE it!
Weâre about to be a very bad influence but sweet stuff is the good stuff and sometimes nothing else will do. Dessert is usually the answer and thankfully Liverpool knows this with an absolutely show-stopping display of the fittest places to cheat on your diet and make a hot date with a frozen dessert because ask yourself: Does salad make you smile the same way as an ice cream sundae?
1 - Midnight Delivery
A sweet story of bubble waffles, brownies, cheesecakes and hot cookie dough which began as a home-bake and arrived to much sticky-spooned applause at Baltic Market.
The Midnight Delivery now has a shop on Smithdown Road but itâs sweetest appeal is the app which means you can order delights such as The Kinderella Ice Cream Sundae of double chocolate & vanilla ice cream, Kinder Bueno and Kinder Chocolate and in a Kinder Bueno ice cream cone from the Midnight Delivery kitchen-to-couch in mere moments! Also check out their incredible Creme Egg Cookie Dough (pictured at the top of this article!)
2 - Dafnaâs Cheesecake Factory
Opened over 40 years ago by local teacher Anne Lev on Smithdown Road, Dafna’s Cheese Cake Factory has become a local institution which specialises in original recipe, unbelievably good cakes – and most famously the cheesecake which is now available in ten flavours including the latest addition Oreo cookie. New cake and dessert recipes are always coming from this super cute kitchen which is available to take special occasion orders, along with offering sensational seasonal bakes you can pick up and convenient wheat-free, Vegan and dairy-free alternatives.

3 - Icestone Gelato
Thereâs something about choosing your favourite flavour from a glossy ice cream counter that feels like the ultimate treat – especially when itâs home-made with a choice of absolutely incredible flavours including blueberry muffin, creamy hazelnut, popping candy and raspberry pavlova. But Icestone Gelato in Queens Square isnât just about homemade ice cream with secret recipe desserts and rave reviews for freshly-made crepes, profiteroles, and a new Gluten-free range of cakes, puddings and gelato.
4 - Puffle Waffle, Albert Dock
How best to describe a Puffle Waffle? Imagine if Willy Wonka invented edible Lego, and filled each brick with mind-bendingly good flavours just about covers it. Each waffle is covered in 30 puffs filled with your choice of blueberry, choc chip or banana, and each cute cone then filled with toppings as vast as your imagination from fruity to somebody-stop-me! Puffle Waffleâs imagination doesnât end there – the plated savoury breakfast waffle is especially popular with cheese, bacon and egg drizzled with ketchup or maple syrup.
5 - My Cookie Dough
Are you a little cookie monster? Though so. My Cookie Dough is another indie recipe for success that started when co-owners Angie and Rickie met as students and went on to open outlets all over the UK. Taking the humble cookie, creating lightly crisp bakes which are perfectly gooey on the inside, their cookie stacks went viral and continue to gather crowds at Liverpool ONE with creations such as The Sl*tty Brownie with Nutella and Oreos; Rose & Pistachio with white chocolate and rose cream cheese.
6 - Treaty Pie
Specialising in cakes, shakes and American candy, Treaty Pie is based in Old Swan delivering delicacies from 6pm until 11pm and midnight at weekends, with delicious desserts such as the freshly-baked, light & fluffy Banofee Waffle with a layer of banana smothered in salted caramel sauce, along with seriously good shakes – including an option to invent your own with your choice of two ingredients from a list of sweet-toothed temptation including Terryâs Chocolate Orange and Jammy Dodgers.
7 - Lauraâs Little Bakery
What tastes better than a cake baked just for you? Lauraâs Little Bakery began when Laura Worthington baked birthday cupcakes for her daughter in 2010 which led to the little bakery in South Liverpool we know and love to order from today! Her reputation for beautifully-baked, bespoke cakes has placed Lauraâs creations centre-stage at celebrations, corporate events and cafĂšs all over the city, and itâs not all about the cake with inventive additions such as salted caramel peanut butter brownies.

The home of dedicated dessert-inspired dining on Strand Street, Heavenly dessert is the go to destination for everyone who takes that third course very seriously. Inspired by the American booth diners of 1950s, the menu is a treasure trove of tummy-filling delights including four-step bespoke options where you can choose everything from cheesecake to pancakes, add sauces including toffee fudge and good old custard, before topping with anything from Ferrero Rocher to Mango – and adding up to four scoops of gelato.

9 - Hotel Chocolat
If you know a chocoholic who deserves a treat Hotel Chocolat is renowned for creating the ultimate chocolate gift giving experiences. This chocolatier is the only company in the UK to own its own cocoa plantation along with two restaurants, which can only mean your stay at an actual Hotel Chocolat must be coming very soon. Walking to Liverpool ONE itâs very easy to make a detour at St Peterâs Arcade for a hot chocolate menu which includes chilli, hazelnut praline and caramel latte flavours and the hot chocolate recipe known as velvetised is now available at home with the velvetiser machine.
