Sports clubs and teams across the Liverpool City Region will have the chance to win a grant to help fund essential equipment, as part of a new initiative from Liverpool ONE and the Guide Liverpool. ā½ļø
The competition is calling on grassroots sport clubs and teams to apply for funding, with six clubs or teams being awarded Ā£500 each to support with items such as kit,
equipment or signage, for example.
Kicking off on the first day of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the competition will run throughout the summer and encourage sports clubs of children aged between 4-16 of all types to enter, from football and boxing to gymnasticsā¦ and everything in between!
It is part of the wider Summer of Sport at Liverpool ONE, which includes Chavasse Park being turned into an official Team GB and ParalympicsGB Fan Zone, one of just nine sites across the country.
The competition officially launches to coincide with the first day of this yearās Olympics, Friday 26 July, running until Friday 30 August.
As part of their entry, clubs are asked to explain what they would spend their money on, describe the history of their club and what the sponsorship would mean to them.

Calderstones Beach & Fun Fair is back for summer holidays and running everyday 11am-5.30pm, until 1 September.
You can find out just opposite the playground in Calderstones Park and thereās loads for you and the kids to do!
Thereās a mix of rides and attractions perfect for toddlers, right up to twelve year olds with lots of new additions for 2024.
Kids can get up and show off their dance moves with Boogie Barry whoāll be hosting a free disco every Tuesday and Thursday between 1pm and 3pm.
Entry to the Beach & Fun Fair is Ā£1 each, so if kids want to just play on the sand thatās all it costs. Every ride is one token and there are two saver deals available: a daily special which gives you 10 ride tokens for Ā£25 and a super saver which is 30 rides for Ā£60.

Municipal Hotelās Seaforth Restaurantās odds-on favourite with new summer menu. š
A succulent dish inspired by legendary racehorse Red Rum is one of the highlights of a new summer menu at the Municipal Hotelās stylish Seaforth Restaurant. Its Cured North Atlantic Salmon starter uses salmon from local artisan supplier Christopher Crosbie.
Starters on the āTime to Dineā lunch menu include smoked mackerel mouse, and soup ā a mouthwatering watercress veloutĆ© with goatās cheese bon bon and sorrel oil; and mains like panko fried breast of chicken with petit Caesar, pecorino shavings and truffle oil, and sea bass served with Thai coconut broth, Morecambe Bay shrimps, roasted carrot, pak choi, and crispy noodles.
Desserts include poached strawberries with Chantilly cream and honey tuille.š
