Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea at The Municipal Hotel 😍
@rach_rhodes_ went for the ultimate experience 👇
#AD- The iconic Dale Street venue has pulled out all the stops to make sure you can show your mum, or
mum figure, just how much she means to you on Sunday, March 30.
And better still, that magical day is promised in one of the city’s most stunning and luxurious locations.
If mum likes to indulge in an afternoon tea, then The Municipal is ready to serve the best, with a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea that’s guaranteed to make her feel like royalty.
The setting is the hotel’s beautiful Botanic Tearoom where she’ll be treated to fabulous live entertainment and a classic menu that’s beyond exceptional.
There’s a mouthwatering welcome platter which includes Wye Valley Asparagus and Wild Spinach Velouté with a Parmesan Tuille, along with a Korean Sesame Chicken Lillipop, and a Scouse Croquette with Beetroot Puree; while the sandwich selection will wow with the likes of Wiltshire flaked ham with piccalilli and watercress, and North Atlantic prawn with caviar!
A hot dish comes courtesy of a Pork and Fruit Pig Pudding Hot Sausage Roll, and sweet servings include a Pistachio and Rose Macaron and a Lime & Liverpool Gin Curd Choux … and, of course, a warm scone with local clotted cream and fruit preserve.
The Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea is just £65 per person or – and you know she’s worth it – for £75 you can add a glass of Champagne on arrival. 🥂
The best way to treat the QUEEN in your life 👑

On Sunday Liverpool will remember those lost to Covid and reflect on the pandemic, five years on. 🕯️
Director or Public Health for the city, Matt Ashton told us about what visitors on the day can expect and why its important to remember not only those lost, but also how Liverpool united and came together as one.
Marking five years since the pandemic began, the Day of Reflection will honour those we lost, the resilience of communities, and the acts of kindness that defined a difficult chapter in our history.
In Liverpool, the Great Hall in St George’s Hall will be transformed into a special space for people to visit, remember those we lost, acknowledge and celebrate all the acts of kindness that took place across our communities and reflect on the profound impact of the pandemic on our everyday lives.
The stunning venue will be beautifully illuminated by paper lanterns, representing the challenges people lived with throughout the pandemic – whether that be the loss of a loved one, isolation, economic hardship or mental health struggles, but also acknowledging the tremendous resilience shown throughout.
A gentle and poignant soundscape will play, creating an ambience for quiet contemplation, and a Book of Commemoration will allow people to leave a message of reflection if they wish to do so.
Members of the public are invited to reflect on their experiences and memories within the Grade I listed neo-classical masterpiece, situated off Lime Street, which will be open from 10am-4pm for this unique event.

Why Pilates should be your go-to fitness routines in 2025.
Gem has been to meet Nina Falconer who owns The Cabin in Mossley Hill to find out about the health benefits that reformer Pilates can bring.
Follow @pilatesatthecabin for more!
It involves a series of simple, repetitive exercises that use precise movements, controlled breathing, and muscle engagement and can be done simply on a mat or with specialised equipment, such as reformer machines – which Nina has – which can enhance the exercise by engaging multiple muscle groups or adding resistance to help correct postural imbalances and promote even better alignment.
Nina, who also works for the city’s Body Clinic, says: “As a former dancer, we relied on pilates as the foundation of the body. It teaches you how to hold your posture, it’s for core strength and it can correct any form issues you have. Posture is the most important thing because it allows you to live a long and healthy life.
“You don’t have to look a certain way or be a certain type to do pilates, you can be a beginner and unfit or someone who’s practiced for a period of time and is more fit. You can be under 18, or you can be 60 and over … anyone can do it.
“You just need a body.
“There are fundamentals to pilates that you work with each exercise: breath, the flow, the alignment, the core, and the pelvic floor.”
She adds: “The best thing about private classes is that they can be tailored to whatever you need them to be, whether that’s post or pre-natal exercise, whether it’s overcoming and recovering from an injury, or whether it’s gaining strength, posture and fitness, or improving your confidence – even if that means so you can go into a bigger class along the line.
“It’s not about being the fastest, or lifting the heaviest weight, and it works your body from the inside out so you can see and feel the benefits.”

To celebrate International Women’s Day (Saturday 8 March) Merseyside Police officers and staff are taking part in a week of activity, visiting nine all-girls high schools across our region, to inspire the next generation of young women to choose a career in policing.
This year’s theme is ‘Accelerate Action for Gender Equity.’ The week offers a unique opportunity to recognise the contributions and achievements of our officers and staff across the force, and also look at how Merseyside Police can better support, inspire, and empower women in our wider communities.
Organised by the Force Outreach Team, each day representatives from departments across the force including Custody, Forensics, Investigations, Response and even one of our apprentices will share their career highlights, discuss challenges they have overcome and share advice for anyone choosing to follow in their footsteps. Officers will also talk about the work undertaken to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls to keep women and girls safe in order to improve their confidence in Merseyside Police.
Outreach Officer Emma Hodgson said: “Events like this that help to inspire and raise aspirations for young girls are so important. Over the course of the week, we will have engaged with over 3,000 girls.
“Our hope is to inspire the next generation of young women to choose a career in policing, whilst also using this opportunity to connect with them, forge positive relationships and ultimately improve their confidence in our ability to keep them safe.”
Zoe Thornton, T/Assistant Chief Constable, People Services, said: “It’s important to be involved in positive events like this that give us the chance to interact with young people, and build trust and confidence with them. It’s fantastic for them to see the range of roles available beyond police officer roles too, highlighting new paths that they might wish to follow.
“Hopefully, by showcasing all the different roles on offer, we can attract a diverse range of girls who can all bring a mix of skills and perspectives to Merseyside Police in the future.”
