Take on Wirral Ark’s Aqua Challenge at Adventure Dock and help to end homelessness
5 years ago

Liverpool’s newest attraction is officially open, and Wirral Ark wants you to make a splash.
Adventure Dock, the city’s first inflatable obstacle course is now open for the summer and this is your opportunity to be crowned king of the dock, while helping to raise vital funds for homeless charity, Wirral Ark. If you’re looking for a fun, challenging team building event, this one is for you!
On Friday 20th July 2018 you can take on the Ark Aqua Challenge, a timed race around the 92 meter, adrenaline-fuelled course. Participants will enjoy bacon rolls & refreshments on arrival at Jury’s Inn Hotel, and will head over to Adventure Dock to get changed into their wetsuits & buoyancy aids (all of which are included) and for a safety briefing before taking on the obstacle course in a race to see who is the fastest individual and fastest team.
Afterwards, participants will head back over to Jury’s Inn for pizza & a beer (1 beer included) and a prize presentation to the winners.
Wirral Ark provides supported accommodation and also offers practical support through training courses and workshops to provide people with the skills required to run their own home and sustain a stable tenancy.
Homelessness is a huge problem and can happen to anybody at any time for a variety of reasons. There has been an increase in homelessness of around 70% on the Wirral alone over the last 5 years with every expectation of this doubling in the next two years.
The Wirral Ark hostel, Mary Cole House, provides 27 en-suite rooms including 2 palliative care rooms, a nurse led medical service accessible by all homeless people, not just Wirral Ark residents, and a controlled drinking environment providing a safe place to drink and moving street drinkers indoors.
The Grand Trunk project provides 6 self-contained studio flats, giving clients more independence, whilst still offering additional help and support as required, and our Ark Angel Supported Housing projects provides a combination of housing and support tailored to the needs of each tenant and enables them to live independently.
Finally, the Wirral Ark Dinghies project supports our clients by giving them meaningful and enjoyable activities to do, in an environment where they can make friends and get to know one another. This project takes old mirror dinghies, which are usually donated by the public, and under supervision, our clients refurbish them for resale. This typically means stripping them down, making repairs, changing parts, and painting and finishing them.
The Ark Aqua Challenge is open to anyone aged 18 and over, who is able to swim a minimum of 25 meters, event registration is £10 per person. To register your place, business or team click here or head to www.wirralark.org.uk/ark-events for more information.
