The Beatles Story partners with Southport & District Beekeepers to launch Beatles-inspired bee hives

The Beatles Story and Southport & District Beekeepers are working together with their new partnership taking centre stage with the launch of four Beatles-themed bee hives, sponsored by the local award-winning attraction, located on Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock.

Located in Merseyside, the sponsored hives will go on to house thousands of native honeybees, playing a vital role in supporting local ecosystems through pollination. The sponsorship will help fund vital equipment, hive care, and educational programming delivered by Southport and District Beekeepers to raise awareness about the critical role bees play in global food security and biodiversity.

Mary Chadwick, General Manager at The Beatles Story, said:

“We’re thrilled to be supporting such an important local biodiversity initiative. Just like The Beatles brought people together through music, we hope this partnership will bring attention to the importance of pollinators and the need to protect our planet’s delicate natural balance.”

The Beatles Story has recently been recognised with a Green Tourism Silver award and this collaboration also aligns with the must-see attraction’s broader green goals, which include reducing plastic waste, improving recycling efforts, and engaging with the community through environmental education.

Southport and District Beekeepers has welcomed the partnership as a valuable boost to their mission.

Vinny Greenall, Apiary Manager, said:

“This kind of support is crucial for the long-term health of our bee populations. Bees are under threat, and every hive sponsored makes a difference. We’re grateful to The Beatles Story for their support and look forward to working together to spread the word about pollinator conservation.”

The Beatles Story will continue to raise awareness of biodiversity, through educational activities along with digital and social updates following the hives’ journey from the bees’ seasonal activities to the wider environmental impact of urban beekeeping.

The hives will be on display at the Southport Flower Show until Sunday, so head over to the Bees and Honey tent to see them up close. Experts from Southport & District Beekeepers will be there to share their knowledge and answer questions.
