The Christmas carol services you can enjoy this year in Liverpool

Everyone loves a carol at Christmas and Liverpool will celebrate with carols and services throughout the special season of Advent and on the day itself.
But itâs in the cityâs two cathedrals and its parish church where many of us will get together.
Here are the services you can enjoyâŠ
Liverpool Cathedral
Liverpoolâs Anglican Cathedral is celebrating the season with a host of festive services.
All the services are free, but you do need to book.
Lighting of the Tree and Blessing of the Crib Service
Sunday, December 13, 3-4pm
In a delightful service suitable for the whole family the tree is lit and the crib scene is brought to life and blessed for Christmas.
Get into the festive spirit as the Cathedral Choir sings well-known Christmas carols and hymns.
Don’t forget you can also see the breath-taking Angel Wings until 3 January.
Saturday and Sunday, December 19 & 20, 3-4pm
Gather for a festive service of readings and carols with the procession of the Holly Bough and Christmas trees through the cathedral.

Thursday, December 24, 1pm-1.30pm and 3.30pm-4pm
Go along to this delightful festive family favourite, the ideal preparation in the lead up to Christmas Day. Enjoy seasonal carols performed by the Liverpool64 choir.
Thursday, December 24, 11.30pm
Welcome the first moments of Christmas Day in this atmospheric midnight service, with celebration of Holy Communion sung by the Great Choir.
Festival Eucharist for Christmas DayÂ
Friday, December 25, 10.30am-12noon
Join in the traditional Christmas morning service with carols sung by the Great Choir.
Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King Liverpool
The Cathedral Choir will take a leading role in services at the Cathedral, and this month is packed with opportunities to hear them sing.
With smaller numbers allowed, youâll need to book for services â and itâs recommended you do that early. But, if youâre not able to visit in person, all services will be lived-streamed, so everyone can join in.
December 19 & 20 Dec, 6pm
Its annual Christmas Carol Service returns for two very special dates this Advent. Enjoy classic carols, traditional readings and celebrate Christmas in the glorious surroundings of the Metropolitan Cathedral. The music will include popular favourites such as âDing Dong, Merrily on Highâ and âO Holy Night,â alongside contemporary compositions such as Eric Whitacreâs âLux arumque.â

First Vespers of Christmas and Blessing of the Crib
December 24, 3pm
Join in-person or online for an intimate and uplifting service, with music led by the Cathedral Choir.
No booking required.
December 24, 6pm
Join the Cathedral Clergy and Youth Choir as we celebrate Christmas Eve with music and readings.
Booking required.
Christmas Eve, 11.30pm
The traditional Mass of the Night to welcome the Christ Child, led by the Archbishop of Liverpool, the Most Rev Malcolm McMahon OP.

Christmas Day, 8am, 9am & 11am
