The comedy show about the city’s most famous hospital is returning to Liverpool’s Royal Court
3 years ago
The Royal, a 5* comedy about Liverpool’s most famous hospital will be back at the Royal Court Theatre in March and this show will have you in stitches.
The show was last on the main stage back in 2017, but the audience loved it so much that the theatre has brought it back for 2022.
This Brilliant, barmy and totally bonkers play has been written by Lindzi Germain and Angela Simms, who also star in it alongside Lynn Francis, Daniel O’Brien and Alan Stocks. Cal McCrystal, who has previously directed The Scouse Nativity and Canoeing for Beginners is also back on the team.
Reporters and celebrities are waiting outside the brand new Royal Liverpool University Hospital on the day that it is set to open its doors.
The wards are ready, the machines are plugged in and all of the patients have been moved across. Well, nearly all of them…
As the first wrecking ball is set to swing into the old building Ward 8X are the last ones to clear out.
The only staff left are highly trained medical professionals like top tea lady Teresa, Casualty obsessed nurse Flo and Maureen, a psychotic mortuary assistant who is rapidly running out of patients.
All they need to do is get out before the Royal turns to rubble!
Kevin Fearon, the Executive Producer at Liverpool’s Royal Court said:
“We are thrilled to have The Royal back on our main stage for a third time. Our audience always give this show great feedback and has everyone laughing out loud. Lindzi Germain and Angela Simms have written a great piece of comedy and the Box Office phones have been ringing solidly since the show went on sale.
“You will see some of the Royal Courts famous faces back on our stage again”
