The Guide Liverpool: Getting Ready for the BIG dates in 2025

The Guide Liverpool is gearing up for a massive 2025. As the nights slowly get lighter and the countdown to some major events begins, we have rounded up the key moments we are looking forward to sharing with you.

We’re now nearly two months into 2025.

The evenings are getting slightly lighter, and the weather, well that still needs some work!

And, WOW, in such a short space of time there’s already been loads of news on the major events and celebrations coming to the city region over the next 12 months.

We’re looking ahead to those big dates in our diary as we plan how The Guide Liverpool will keep Liverpool up to date on all the not to be missed moments ahead.

Randox Grand National 2025

Liverpool events 2025 - The Guide Liverpool - Grand National
Jay Hynd, Gemma Cutting & Pete Price will be back fronting this year’s Grand National coverage

First up, The Randox Grand National (3rd to 5th April). It’s one of the most watched sporting moments of the year. People from across the world tune in to witness who’ll be crowned the race winner.

This is a sporting event like no other, and this year will be our 8th working in partnership with Aintree Racecourse and The Jockey Club to cover all of the style, sport & entertainment across 3 days at Aintree Racecourse. We are delighted once again to be Style Award partner, and with our Gemma back on the judging panel, representing The Guide Liverpool, we are sure to once again find a worthy and very stylish winner.

This week the annual Weights Lunch lit up St. George’s Hall, marking the official start of the countdown. Watch our video here.

We’ve also got a responsibility to ensure key safety and travel information from Merseyside Police and Merseyrail is shared across the Liverpool City Region – this is as much as part of our races weekend coverage. We’ll be keeping you up to date during the build up and then back on-course for those magical three days at Aintree.

In 2024, our coverage of The Randox Grand National Festival reached over 2.4 million users across our platforms and our videos were watched by 1.3 million people, in just (6 weeks) we’re going to be doing it all over again.

Celebrating the City

As a City famous for our musical heritage and current musical talent pool, it makes perfect sense that this year’s Northern Music Awards – sponsored by Nordoff and Robbins – is being hosted right here in Liverpool. On the 27th March, the iconic Liverpool Olympia is the destination for the 2025 celebration of “The North’s very best artists, festivals, venues and industry figures”

This will be a night to remember, and – as Media Partners – The Guide Liverpool will proudly be showcasing the celebrations and recognition of the rising stars and established acts who make up the vibrant northern music scene. Watch our chat with BBC 6 Music Presenter and event host Chris Hawkins here.

And, there are a whole HOST of other wonderful award ceremonies and celebrations across this year that we’ll be attending and enjoying – and, even hosting! The Guide Liverpool will once again partnering with the prestigious LCR Tourism Awards later this month, as well as the Liverpool Hospitality People Awards in June, the Chester Hospitality Awards in July and the Cheshire Life Food & Drink Awards coming in summer, also the Merseyside Independent Business Awards, which takes place annually in October.

We’re proud to be part of these recognition focussed events for the people, the businesses and the destinations that make our city region GREAT. You’ll also spot us cheering on nominees and winners alike at the Downtown Women In Business in March and the Liverpool Chamber Business Innovation Awards.

Who knows, we might even give out some awards ourselves later in the year (wink face emoji!)

Radio 1 is coming

Where were you, when Greg James announced LIVERPOOL as the destination for the stations’ biggest live music event?!

We’re still not over the news that Sefton Park will play host to 3 days of live music this May for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend – with the likes of Sam Fender, Myles Smith, Lola Young, Wet Leg and local band: Blossoms taking to the stage to perform.

The Guide Liverpool is no stranger to being a part of the major musical moments, events and festivals to grace our city region. We’ve worked closely with the BBC before, for extensive (and award winning!) coverage of Eurovision 2023. Similarly, we’ve proudly collaborated with LIMF, Africa Oye, On the Waterfront and many more event organisers in recent years to bring the festival ‘to you’ through our video content & campaigns.

The Big Weekend will be no exception for The Guide as we plan to bring you all of the build up, and who knows, we might even blag ourselves a ticket to bring you some coverage too!

Over the coming weeks, more artists are to be announced for what is no doubt going to be one of the most memorable music celebrations to take over Sefton Park in recent years and we’ll keep you updated on performances, ticket information and what to expect in May.

Watch our chat here with Radio1 presenter Nat O’Leary as the exciting news was announced.

When it comes to celebrating the unique art and culture – and vibrancy – of our city region, The Guide Liverpool has always been an integral ambassador. For our cultural destination partners and our heritage locations, we continually act as champions for what is happening.

In 2025, there are many moments in our diary.

Luke Jerram is renowned for his celestial installations and Helios is the next illuminous instalment in his collection, exclusively visiting the breathtaking Liverpool Cathedral later this Spring.

And, later this year, Liverpool Biennial returns for the 13th festival of contemporary visual art. We’re supporting this pivotal moment for Liverpool, with a campaign which amplifies the Biennial message: Liverpool is a renowned cultural and artistic destination.

Get ready to see Liverpool’s public spaces transformed into a MASSIVE art gallery.

Liverpool Biennial: BEDROCK is a 14 week long festival which includes “A dynamic programme of free exhibitions, performances, screenings, community and learning activities and fringe events”.

City of Music

Bruce Springsteen - Anfield
Bruce Springsteen – Anfield

Music is in our blood, here in Liverpool. We’re a city of passionate music fans and we LOVE to see our favourite artists perform live in our hometown.

Sometimes, these performances take place against backdrops you’d not normally expect – and that’s where we come in!

From football to fabulousness: The Guide Liverpool will once again be working with LFC to showcase all of the build up to their June 2025 concerts dates as Dua Lipa, Lana Del Ray, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel bring an eclectic mix of musical magic and excitement to ‘the pitch’ at Anfield.

Then, we’ll be moving from Anfield to the Mersey in June, as our world-famous waterfront (which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site) becomes the setting for On the Waterfront again.

This 4-day musical celebration transforms the Pier Head and is set to bring a real variety of live music to the City across this June weekend courtesy of The Wombats, The Wolf Tones, Cream Classical Ibiza – closing out with a performance from the legend: Sting!

Add to that Billy Ocean and Ocean Colour Scene at Booth’s new venue, Salt & Tar. Plus Kylie, Bryan Adams and Diana Ross at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, and you have a lineup shining brighter than a Glastonbury Pyramid Stage.

Get more concerts to look forward to in 2025 here.

A new home for the Blues

Whether you’re a Blue or not, this will definitely be a moment in the City’s sporting history and is set to bring a lot of excitement with it. And we’re ready for it!

EFC will open the doors to the Clubs new ‘home’ on Bramley-Moore Dock, as the new football season kicks off later this Summer.

The new stadium is already a stunning addition to our Waterfront skyline and presents so much opportunity for the Liverpool City Region to host major sporting events, not just related to football, because of its size & visitor capacity.

For The Guide Liverpool, we will continue to bring you all of the latest as gates get set to open, from the testing-events to the reaction fans as they visit their new home for the first time.

Of course, all these events will undoubtedly keep us busy, but we never forget about the everyday magical hustle and bustle that makes Liverpool so special.

We’re a City Region that thrives on excitement, culture and memorable moments.

2025 promises to be no different.

For The Guide Liverpool, we’ll proudly continue to be a part of it all as well as looking forward to what this year will bring for our partnerships with  Liverpool ONE, M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool FC, Selfridges, Cheshire Oaks, Liverpool’s Royal Court, Liverpool Cathedral, National Museums Liverpool and North West Cancer Research.

Don’t forget you can get in on the action to, if you want to share your story, collaborate with us or let us help showcase you business to the North West then email us Info@theguideliverpool.com.
