The Jacaranda recently hosted an incredible celebration as part of BBC Introducing at their Open Mic Night, in conjunction with BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Merseyside in preparation for Radio 1’s Big Weekend coming to Liverpool.
On this special night at The Jacaranda, over 60 musicians from across the city took the stage to showcase their talents.
The BBC put out a call for musicians to perform at The Jacaranda’s Open Mic Night, held every Sunday at 8pm. Performances were spread across the ground floor stage and the basement stage, the latter being famous for hosting The Beatles’ first performances.

All performances were recorded by the BBC, with the best to be played on Radio 1 as part of the buildup to Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool to showcase the city’s talent.
Jack Rowley, Marketing & PR for The Jacaranda, said:
“The Jacaranda’s Open Mic Night is a staple in Liverpool’s music scene. Many musicians played in front of people for the very first time at The Jacaranda’s open mic night, including Dave McCabe of The Zutons and Miles Kane – they’ve both gone on to play The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.”
“It’s amazing to see so many artists come together and share their passion for music. We are thrilled to partner with BBC Introducing and celebrate Radio 1’s Big Weekend with such an inspiring event.”

Ali Horn, Host of The Jacaranda’s Open Mic Night, said:
“What an incredible evening of song, we don’t get many like it, I certainly drank it in while I could. Floor to ceiling talent hosting over 60 people over two floors, that must be an open mic world record!”
