The Lake House in Waterloo is creating its own mini Glastonbury with live screenings and music

Don’t worry if you missed out on Glastonbury tickets when they all got snapped up last November because The Lake House in Waterloo is inviting music fans to join in the atmosphere this weekend at Glastonbeach.

The Lake House is staging its own mini version of the world famous festival with live screenings of the artists on the Pyramid stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday where legends like Shania Twain, Cyndi Lauper and Squeeze are scheduled to perform.

Plus it’ll have its resident DJ playing tunes from some previous Glastonbury headliners, live music performances, street food and Glasto-style facepainting and glitter tattoos for kids (and maybe adults too!)

This is the first summer since The Lake House created its new outdoor drinking and eating area, The Lawn, and with a big screen up overlooking the Marine Lake it’s keen to make the most of a perfect setting.

Natalie Nixon, the venue’s business development manager, says:

“We are very family-friendly and we usually have music on Friday evenings when we have our Sunset Sessions so Glastonbury fits in nicely with what we do.

“We know lots of people want to see Glastonbury and maybe they didn’t manage to get tickets or just aren’t able to go for whatever reason but they still want to watch outdoors with other people almost as if they were there. We already had our big screen up for the Euros so we thought we’d make the most of it to recreate a bit of the festival atmosphere, and get kids involved too.

“The screen and the stage where we put our bands on are both outside on the grass area and we spent the winter building the outdoor huts to give us some extra space, so people can come and park up, watch the live music, and watch Glastonbury as it happens.”

With England due to play their next match at the weekend, The Lake House’s Glastonbeach schedule will fit in around kick-off to keep music and footy fans happy.

The screenings will be on all three days from around 12 noon when the TV coverage begins to 9pm, pausing once the England match starts.

DJ Nick Gartland, who does the regular Friday night Sunset Sessions with chilled Ibiza house from 6pm to 9pm, will be playing a special Glasto-inspired set this Friday. A duo will be playing live on Saturday late afternoon, performing some festival classics, and on Sunday afternoon it’ll be leopard print all the way with Shania tunes until she takes to the Pyramid Stage from 3.45pm.

There’ll be no need for wellies or Portaloos, but The Lake House has got a converted horsebox serving street food and an outdoor bar so there’s still a few nods to Worthy Farm.
