Tuck into 25 of Liverpool’s best Sunday Roasts

It’s a tradition that never gets old! The king of comfort food – what is it about The Sunday Roast that makes it just BOSS! Is it the huge fluffy Yorkshire puddings, the crispy roasties, or the lashings of red wine gravy? Whatever it is we don’t care, we just want more of it! 

A question that is on everybody’s lips on a Sunday “Where shall we go for a roast?”… Well there’s no need to go searching across social media to find somewhere decent. We have put together the ultimate guide to help you decide! 

Albert’s Schloss

Sunday Service is a must try at Schloss, with a delicious set menu of two or three courses available every week. 

Choose from roast sirloin of Lancashire beef, Paillard of Cheshire chicken, Schweinshaxe or vegan mushroom wellington, served with all the trimmings; maple-glazed roast root vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, seasonal greens and lashings of proper gravy. 

Enjoy two courses for £22.50 or three for £27.00, with plenty of tasty sides on offer. There’s not a main in the place that wouldn’t benefit from a bit on the side…

Liverpool Sunday Roast

Join Gaucho every Sunday for the perfect roast with live music. Each week they’ll be inviting down their favourite local artists to showcase their sounds. Sunday Sessions is all about creating the perfect relaxed atmosphere. 

For £26.00 their roast sirloin of beef is served with roast potatoes and unlimited Yorkshire puddings, cooked in beef dripping. Accompanied with seasonal vegetables and served with a red wine gravy.

The Watering Can 

Liverpool Sunday Roast

Sunday Roasts are a firm favourite at The Watering Can – and what better way to spend the official day of rest than with a leisurely stroll in 12 acres of beautiful Greenbank Park followed by one of the best roasts in the city. 

The mouth-watering menu is packed full of flavours using local suppliers, seasonal produce and higher welfare traceable meat suppliers.  Diners can enjoy a starter, main-course and a glass of house wine or a beer for just £27.00 per person.

The Elephant, Woolton

Liverpool Sunday Roast

Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer took over the establishment in 2014, his idea was that he wanted affordable food with no pretensions. 

The Elephant’s roast dinners are a firm favourite with the locals of Woolton and beyond. You can get Roast beef, Pork Belly, Chicken & Stuffing, and and a Mushroom, leek & Butternut Squash Wellington with all the trimmings. They also have sides of Pigs In Blankets – Christmas might be over – but it doesn’t mean we can’t normalise these little beauties being a year round tradition!

Award-winning foodie mecca Delifonseca Dockside, positioned on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront, sits only one mile away from the city centre and their convenient car park can be found travelling south down Sefton Street and is supported by accessible and regular transport links. 

Their indulgent roast dinners come with all the trimmings and lashings of proper gravy!

Traditionally, large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire. To achieve a similar flavour Hawksmoor start theirs on real charcoal and finish them in the oven. For £23.50 their Sunday lunch their slow roast native breed rump comes served with beef dripping roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, greens, roasted shallots & garlic and lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy.

Papillion is one of Liverpool’s newest most Instagrammable bar/restaurants anchored between the Anglican & Metropolitan Cathedrals on picturesque Hope Street. The perfect place for small plates and people watching on an outside table on a sunny day. 

Their Sunday roasts are served from midday until they’re gone – expect the usual favourites as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options!

Duke & Duke Modern Grill, Waterloo

Liverpool Sunday Roast

This new steakhouse concept in Waterloo is brought to you from the guys who’re the brains behind The Workshop, also in Waterloo. All their meats are coal-fired and cooked at high temperatures, which brings deeper rich distinct flavours – in their state-of-the-art Mibrasa grill… which is apparently only 1 of 2 in Liverpool! 

Their Sunday lunches are served from 1.00pm until they’re gone… so make sure you book or get there early!

Castle Street Townhouse

Each week, Castle Street Townhouse’s Chefs lovingly prepare a British staple, the classic Sunday lunch. The team caters for your every need in Castle Street Townhouse’s lush surroundings. For £16.95 choose from Beef, Chicken or Vegan Wellington, with all the trimmings – roasts are available 1pm -7pm every Sunday. 

For 6 years, their resident musician Ben Pavely has been accompanying diners with his laid back acoustic tones, perfectly soundtracking a lazy Sunday afternoon 4pm – 6pm.

Ma Boyle’s Alehouse & Eatery

Ma Boyle’s succulent Sunday roast service takes place every weekend from 1pm ’til 9pm at the historic venue, tucked away from the bustling city centre. Sundays at Ma’s are very much an institution and not to be missed, with afternoons stretching deep into the evening in very good company. All hearty roasts are served with seasonal vegetables, crispy potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding with a herb stuffing and lashings of gravy.

Nova Scotia

Choose from chicken supreme, crispy pork belly, slow-roasted beef brisket or Nova Scotia’s delicious vegan nut roast. All roasts are served with fresh vegetables, a huge Yorkshire pudding, crisp roast potatoes and a side of Nova Scotia’s signature Scouse. Served 1 – 6pm. 

Nova Scotia is set in the stunning Mann Island building in the shadow of the Museum of Liverpool and the spectacular Three Graces on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.

Set in the heart of Cain’s Brewery Village, Dockleaf love good hearty locally produced food that makes you feel full, warm inside and that you thoroughly enjoy. Currently closed for refurbishment and set for reopening on March 1 – this one is worth the wait!

Once they’re ready to welcome you back-  you can join them for their weekly Roast Club from midday onwards. Expect special homemade gravy, top roast veg, golden roast potatoes, dripping meat (or vegan option), Bloody Cobblers, mimosas & a shandy to end all shandies. Good honest grub.

Ten Streets Social 

Liverpool Sunday Roast

Ten Streets Social on Regent Road, close to Waterloo Warehouse, opened in 2020 and quickly made a name for themselves for serving sensational home-cooked Sunday Roasts with live music, showcasing some fantastic local talent!

Serving a choice of prime beef, chicken or nutritious nut roast with all the trimmings for £14.50 – the spacious, casual dining venue became popular with families, couples and groups of friends who wanted to kick back and relax on a Sunday. 

Roasts are served from 2pm-6pm with live music from 2.30pm until 7.00pm. Dog friendly and pram friendly the venue is the perfect place to relax and unwind as you round of the week and plan for the days ahead.

Smugglers Cove 

Smugglers Cove offers both an adult and children’s menu for Roast Dinners. For adults, there’s an option to add bottomless drinks for and additional £15. 

Every Sunday throughout January, the cove is offering £1 Kid’s Sunday Roasts when an adult roast is purchased.

Gusto have recently launched their new Sunday Sharing Roast (for two people) which includes a selection of a Sirloin of Beef, Roast Turkey, Porchetta-style Pork Belly, Crackling and their 3-meat ragù shepherd’s pie, alongside plenty of veg and trimmings.

Titanic Hotel

Located on Stanley Dock Liverpool, minutes away from Liverpool city centre, Titanic Hotel Liverpool is history in the making. Stanley Dock sits over the River Mersey – part of the Port of Liverpool – it was once the largest and most complete system of historic docks in the world. Scrando’s, Hoylake

Taking a street food approach to the traditional Sunday Lunch –  this new restaurant in Hoylake has been serving up their take on street food for all the locals. In January kids eat free with every paying adult on Friday, Saturday and Sundays.

They have put together a boss Yorkshire pudding wrap – With your choice of roast chicken or topside of beef, jam packed with stuffing, roasties, and wilted spinach, it comes served with Scrando’s gravy, and extra roasties.

Crosby Wine Bar and Bistro by Queens 

These guys are a bistro and wine bar in Crosby, hidden but within view just on Liverpool Road.

They pride themselves on offering simple, seasonal produce which is carefully prepared and cooked by their team of talented chefs, alongside a broad and ever evolving wine list – all with a minimum of fuss. 

Choose from herb roasted topside of beef, chicken supreme or roasted butternut squash – all are served with roast potatoes, braised red cabbage, roast carrot, Yorkshire pudding, gravy.

Panoramic 34 

Set 300 feet above sea level on the 34th floor of the West Tower, Panoramic 34 is one of the UK’s highest restaurants. This celebrated fine dining restaurant is encapsulated by ceiling to floor windows offering breathtaking 360° views of the iconic river, city and region beyond.

Chef Nathan Booth, who recently starred on BBC’s Masterchef: The Professionals, leads the kitchen. On Sunday’s you can enjoy 2-courses for £35.00 or 3-courses for £42.00 and kids can enjoy a roast for £14.00!

The Baltic Hotel 

Where punk art meets urban chic, a colourful retreat for hipsters and hippies. Located in the heart of the Baltic region they offer the perfect spring board for your night out, shopping trip or weekend break. 

Their Sunday menu runs from 12.30pm on a first come first served basis until its gone! On the sharing platter you can choose two cuts of meat (ribeye beef joint, spatchcock chicken, roast lamb leg, or for veggies a nut roast Wellington) and get all the trimmings like roasties, carrot and swede mash, cabbage, stuffing, gravy, and MORE – all for just £22.95 per board!

Considered by many as a focal point in the heart of the Georgian Quarter, The Blackburne Arms continues to regenerate and is fast becoming, to locals & tourists, as one the ‘coolest’ part of the city! 

The gastropub serves locally sourced fresh food. The welcoming atmosphere puts you instantly at ease, and is helped along by their hearty menu!

Sunday Roast

Liverpool’s modern and accessible fine dining restaurant – was recently crowned best restaurant in Liverpool by the British Restaurant Awards, an annual awards ceremony which allows customers to nominate and vote for their Best Restaurants in the UK. 

Located at the Britannia Pavilion on the Royal Albert Dock, Lerpwl sits nestled among other foodie destinations, and its vision focuses on the links between Liverpool’s port and the rest of the British Isles and North Wales, providing the freshest produce possible in the restaurant.

Their Sunday sharing menu features exquisite dishes such as their Sharing Dry Aged Duck Crown and their Halibut with Potato, Parsley and Caviar Chowder.

Inside No.4 

Sunday Roast

Inside No.4, is the friendly neighbourhood bar and restaurant located in Carnegie Avenue Crosby. Head Chef Tomasz Miastkowski has previously worked in Michelin Star restaurants in London and also at Tom Kerridge’s Bull & Bear in Manchester.

Their roast dinners are £15 complete with all the trimmings and if you want a slice of all three meats its just an extra £4!

The London Carriage Works 

The London Carriage Works is an award-winning restaurant serving modern British dishes using local, fresh and seasonal produce. TLCW is a convivial space to kick back and catch up. From Monday to Sunday until 10pm we serve a full range of dishes. 

You can get 2-courses for £26.50 and 3-courses for £32.00 – mains include the likes of their roasted strip loin of beef with sticky red cabbage, beef fat roasted potatoes, caraway, honey carrots, and seasonal greens.

Wavertree Town Hall 

The majestic Grade II Listed building where George Harrison’s birth was registered and The Beatles once played as The Quarrymen was saved by two local women and has since thrived as a gorgeous restaurant, bar and events space. 

The stylish venue offers a refined menu of small plates, Sunday roasts with live music, cocktails and afternoon tea and it’s a popular venue for private hire and weddings.

STOKE is based on the ground floor of Liverpool’s newest hotel, Radisson RED on Lime Street. 

The restaurant, which is set in the Grade II-listed North Western Hall next to Lime Street Station, is a modern, barbecue eatery specialising in organic seasonal dishes and small plates.
