It’s a tradition that never gets old! The king of comfort food – what is it about The Sunday Roast that makes it just BOSS! Is it the huge fluffy Yorkshire puddings, the crispy roasties, or the lashings of red wine gravy? Whatever it is we don’t care, we just want more of it! 

A question that is on everybody’s lips on a Sunday “Where shall we go for a roast?”… Well there’s no need to go searching across social media to find somewhere decent. We have put together the ultimate guide to help you decide! 

Botanico

Botanico, Liverpool’s popular all-day eatery in the heart of Woolton Village, has launched its very own Sunday Roast.

Available from 1-9pm, guests have hailed it ‘the best in South Liverpool’.

With Topside Beef, Chicken Supreme and 12-hour slow cooked Pulled Lamb Shoulder available, guests will be able to choose their favourite meat to enjoy alongside all of the trimmings including roasted potatoes, braised red cabbage, sweet potato puree, carrots, tenderstem broccoli, Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy. 

For vegan and vegetarian guests, the delicious Five Spiced Roasted Cauliflower is on the menu.

Botanico has also launched a new Sunday Roast Sharing Board which has proved incredibly popular amongst guests.

For £40, the sharing board for two includes Topside Beef, Chicken Supreme and 12-hour slow cooked Pulled Lamb Shoulder and all of the trimmings to make the perfect Sunday Roast with plenty of variety and a chance to try all three delicious meats.

Albert’s Schloss 

Sunday Service is a must try at Schloss!

Albert’s Schloss’ Cook Haus roasts are served with all the trimmings: roast potatoes, root vegetable mash, seasonal greens and lashings of proper gravy. Choose from sauerbraten beef wellington, beef sirloin, Bavarian pork knuckle, roast chicken or the vegan no-nut roast.

Optional sides include Cauliflower Cheese, Sformato (baked truffle mash) and Schweins In Blankets.

Gaucho 

Join Gaucho every Sunday for the perfect roast with live music. Each week they’ll be inviting down their favourite local artists to showcase their sounds. Sunday Sessions is all about creating the perfect relaxed atmosphere. 

For £27 their roast sirloin of beef is served with roast potatoes and unlimited Yorkshire puddings, cooked in beef dripping. Accompanied with seasonal vegetables and served with a red wine gravy. 

You can also enjoy bottomless roasts every Sunday, choosing from three different joints of perfectly roasted meats accompanied by the finest Yorkshire puddings, unlimited seasonal vegetables and gravy for £37.

Children’s roasts are available for £15.

The Watering Can 

Sunday Roasts are a firm favourite at The Watering Can – and what better way to spend the official day of rest than with a leisurely stroll in 12 acres of beautiful Greenbank Park followed by one of the best roasts in the city. 

The mouth-watering menu is packed full of flavours using local suppliers, seasonal produce and higher welfare traceable meat suppliers.  Diners can enjoy a starter, main-course for just £26 per person.

The Elephant, Woolton

The Elephant’s roast dinners are a firm favourite with the locals of Woolton and beyond. You can get Roast beef, Pork Belly, Chicken & Stuffing, and and a Mushroom, leek & Butternut Squash Wellington with all the trimmings.

They also have sides of Pigs In Blankets – Christmas might be over – but it doesn’t mean we can’t normalise these little beauties being a year round tradition!

Delifonseca 

Award-winning foodie mecca Delifonseca Dockside, positioned on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront, sits only one mile away from the city centre and their convenient car park can be found travelling south down Sefton Street and is supported by accessible and regular transport links.

Hawksmoor 

Traditionally, large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire. To achieve a similar flavour Hawksmoor start theirs on real charcoal and finish them in the oven. From £24, their Sunday lunch their slow roast native breed rump comes served with beef dripping roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, greens, roasted shallots & garlic and lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy.

Also, diners will now be able to enjoy beautiful sides like Hawksmoor stuffing, Cauliflower Cheese, Roasted Bone marrow & onions, and Celeriac mash, sausage & gravy, alongside their famous slow roast rump with all the trimmings.

Papillon 

Papillion is one of Liverpool’s newest most Instagrammable bar/restaurants anchored between the Anglican & Metropolitan Cathedrals on picturesque Hope Street. The perfect place for small plates and people watching on an outside table on a sunny day. 

Their Sunday roasts are served from midday until they’re gone – expect the usual favourites as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options! With roasts from £15 it is not one to miss if you’re out and about on Hope Street.

The Workshop is a restaurant and bar based in Crosby.

Open from 12 their Sunday roast is served from 1pm until it is gone – so it is wise to book in!

Each week, Castle Street Townhouse’s chefs lovingly prepare a British staple, the classic Sunday lunch.

The team cater for your every need at Castle Street Townhouse. For £17.50 choose from Beef, Chicken or Vegan Wellington, with all the trimmings – roasts are available 1pm -7pm every Sunday.

Ma Boyle’s Alehouse & Eatery 

Ma Boyle’s succulent Sunday roast service takes place every weekend from 1pm ’til 9pm at the historic venue, tucked away from the bustling city centre.

Sundays at Ma’s are very much an institution and not to be missed, with afternoons stretching deep into the evening in very good company.

All hearty roasts are served with seasonal vegetables, crispy potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding with a herb stuffing and lashings of gravy.

Ten Streets Social 

Ten Streets Social on Regent Road, close to Waterloo Warehouse, opened in 2020 and quickly made a name for themselves for serving sensational home-cooked Sunday Roasts with live music, showcasing some fantastic local talent!

Serving a choice of prime beef, chicken or nutritious nut roast with all the trimmings for £15.50 – the spacious, casual dining venue became popular with families, couples and groups of friends who wanted to kick back and relax on a Sunday. 

Roasts are served from 2pm-6pm with live music from 2.30pm until 7.00pm. Dog friendly and pram friendly the venue is the perfect place to relax and unwind as you round of the week and plan for the days ahead.

Gusto 

At Gusto, as well as the usual Sunday Lunch offerings, they also have have their Sunday Sharing Roast (for two people) which includes a selection of a Sirloin of Beef, Roast Chicken, Porchetta-style Pork Belly & Crackling and their 3-meat ragù shepherd’s pie.

Served with roasties, Yorkshire puddings, beef fat carrots, cauliflower in a carbonara sauce, greens, braised red cabbage and a jug of gravy, for £45.95.

Crosby Wine Bar and Bistro by Queens 

These guys are a bistro and wine bar in Crosby, hidden but within view just on Liverpool Road.

They pride themselves on offering simple, seasonal produce which is carefully prepared and cooked by their team of talented chefs, alongside a broad and ever evolving wine list – all with a minimum of fuss. 

Choose from herb roasted topside of beef, chicken leg or roasted beetroot – all are served with all the trimmings.

Set 300 feet above sea level on the 34th floor of the West Tower, Panoramic 34 is one of the UK’s highest restaurants.

This celebrated fine dining restaurant is encapsulated by ceiling to floor windows offering breathtaking 360° views of the iconic river, city and region beyond.

The Baltic Hotel 

Where punk art meets urban chic, a colourful retreat for hipsters and hippies. Located in the heart of the Baltic region they offer the perfect spring board for your night out, shopping trip or weekend break. 

Their Sunday menu runs from 12.30pm on a first come first served basis until its gone!

On the sharing platter you can choose two cuts of meat (ribeye beef joint, spatchcock chicken, roast lamb leg, or for veggies a nut roast Wellington) and get all the trimmings like roasties, carrot and swede mash, cabbage, stuffing, gravy, and MORE – all for just £29.95 per board!

Considered by many as a focal point in the heart of the Georgian Quarter, The Blackburne Arms continues to regenerate and is fast becoming, to locals & tourists, as one the ‘coolest’ part of the city!

Wavertree Town Hall 

The majestic Grade II Listed building where George Harrison’s birth was registered and The Beatles once played as The Quarrymen was saved by two local women and has since thrived as a gorgeous restaurant, bar and events space. 

The stylish venue offers a refined menu of small plates, Sunday roasts with live music, cocktails and afternoon tea and it’s a popular venue for private hire and weddings.

STOKE is based on the ground floor of Liverpool’s newest hotel, Radisson RED on Lime Street. 

The restaurant, which is set in the Grade II-listed North Western Hall next to Lime Street Station, is a modern, barbecue eatery specialising in organic seasonal dishes and small plates.

What was a derelict building in the centre of Liverpool was converted into a 90-cover restaurant by owner Gary Usher over 5-years-ago and has since went on to win multiple award. Serving simple bistro food, Wreckfish use the best quality ingredients possible.

Their Sunday menu runs from 12.00pm – 5.30pm, and you can expect favourites like beef strip loin, chicken supreme, lamb rump, as well as veggie alternatives to come with all the trimmings.

A neighbourhood bistro and wine bar serving humble dishes and drinks they’re truly passionate about. Inspired by places they’ve travelled to, Belzan has legions of fans thanks to its gorgeous daytime brunch dishes and chilled atmosphere.

Their menu changes with the ebb and flow of the seasons. Some weeks nothing changes, other weeks 3 or 4 dishes might change, but what is always constant is the attention and care given to every ingredient and guest that graces the restaurant.

La Finca Eivissa hosts warm Balearic vibes, chill areas, fusion tapas, sangrias, Spanish & local beers & house speciality cocktails as well as detox drinks and smoothies. A place to Chill in the evening and party into the early hours with live entertainment each night.

They added their Sunday roast to their menu in November, and they look incredible!

The neighbourhood pub is the little sister of one of Liverpool’s favourites, Neon Jamon, and they serve a boss Sunday lunch!

Churrasco Steakhouse

A traditional style steakhouse, offering everything from flat iron to ribeye, rump and the rest and you can have your steak served raw on a 350-degree lava stone to let it cook just as you like it. The steak stone stays hot until you get to even the last mouthful, and cooking this way keeps in more of the natural juices.
