The Mummy-to-be guide to Liverpool, where to chill, shop and celebrate!
Whether you’re just sharing your first scan pics or getting ready to nest, we’ve got something for you.
Its a fact that more babies are born in September and October than the rest of the year, yep we know what you guys were up to last Christmas and on average 24 brand new little babbas are born at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital every single day, so there’s no doubt that the city is currently full of mammas on the final stretch!
Listen, we know. You’re tired, you’re probably needing a wee every 30 mins or so, you’re down to two pairs of leggings, three tops and your fellas hoody and girl how amazing are those River Island fluffy sliders, because attempting to lace up trainees just isn’t on the agenda. We want to make life a tiny bit easier for you and whether this is your first baby or your fifth, we’ve lined up some little you time treats to get through the last few weeks.
Here’s our Mummy-to-be guide to Liverpool……
1 – To Unwind
You might be feeling full of energy as you gear up to welcome your little bundle, or you may be just about managing to waddle around Asda to get your munchies in, either way, carrying the weight of your precious little bundle can play havoc with your feet. Treat your tootsies to a bit of a pamper at Lifestyle Collective, Allerton Road, where you can relax in the amazingly comfortable chairs, sip a cuppa and flick through Vogue while the team massage away your aches and polish up your nails. Treatments and more here.
2 – To Glam Up
Now just because you’re carrying precious cargo, it doesn’t mean you don’t want to dress up and feel glam still! If you’re heading out for a special occasion, you can get your curly blow on at hundreds of different salons across the city. We love the convenience of a Blow-to-Go at Voodou, Bold Street, the express make-up appointments at MAC, Metquarter and of course you can go for the full Monty (not literally) at Peaches & Cream, Dale Street or Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar at Liverpool One. You’re not yourself without a bit of glam.
3 – To Indulge
It’s no secret that some expectant mums work right up until their due date and so taking time out to relax before the baby comes falls by the wayside. Why not take advantage of a mini spa break, right here on Merseyside? The beautiful Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa has undergone a stylish revamp and is the perfect little staycation for pregnant mums. With so many treatment options, spa facilities and delicious dining options, a day away from the office to start your next chapter never sounded so good. Find out more here.
4 – To Prepare
When that nesting instinct kicks in there’s only one place to get all your baby essentials, and that’s Liverpool One. From nursery furniture and prams at John Lewis to the cutest of outfits from Zara and who could resist a cuddly Minnie or Mickey Mouse from the Disney Store? Get your little one all kitted out from one handy location with on-site parking, plenty of places to grab a breather and a coffee and those all important (and spotlessly clean) toilets! More here.
5 – To Celebrate
If you, your family or your mates are planning a baby shower, christening or naming day we whole-heartedly recommend The Hay Loft at The Old Stables at Allerton Manor. This stunning location is perfect for girly gatherings and offers a huge range of benefits from on-site parking, room dressing, catering and more, so why not get your girls together and celebrate your last few weeks with a bump.
