The Municipal Hotel & Spa Liverpool receives coveted 5-star rating

The Municipal Hotel & Spa Liverpool has announced it has been officially awarded a coveted AA 5-star rating, the first and only hotel in the city to do so.

The 5-star status places The Municipal amongst the very best hotels in the UK, less than three years after opening its doors.  

The AA’s 5-star status signifies excellent quality and facilities in hotels, recognising only the highest standard of hospitality, and this award cements the hotels 5-star’s position as the benchmark for excellence in the city.  

Alongside the 5-star AA rating for the hotel, Seaforth brasserie-style restaurant at The Municipal, has been awarded an AA Rosette, a sought-after award for culinary excellence given to restaurants in the UK based on the food quality. The charming Seaforth restaurant is rooted in national pride with global exotic twists and hints of Liverpool’s historical trade past, with menus showcasing the passion and intricacy of Liverpool’s connections to land and sea.  

Following the inspection, the AA team praised the property for its beauty, charm, grandeur, character, and luxurious touches. They noted that the overall service levels were consistently high, supported by a strong hospitality culture with a team clearly dedicated to guest care. Every team member made an excellent impression, demonstrating warmth, professionalism, and an evident desire to make each guest’s stay as seamless and memorable as possible; qualities that are essential at a Five-star level. Finally, they commented on dinner at Seaforth which was very enjoyable and has resulted in the achievement of a One AA Rosette Award; compliments to the team for this accomplishment.

Housed in the former council offices, the historic Grade II listed Municipal Building on the city’s vibrant Dale Street represents a £70 million restoration.
