The Scouse Christmas Carol is coming to Liverpool’s Royal Court

Liverpool’s Royal Court has unwrapped its Christmas show for 2025, with a Liverpool twist on a festive classic – The Scouse Christmas Carol.

Charles Dickens always wanted his yuletide tale to be performed with laughs and live music, and Liverpool’s Royal Court is making sure he gets his wish.

The Scouse Christmas Carol is expected to be hilarious, high-energy, packed with comedy, music, and a whole lot of Scouse spirit… we would expect nothing less from a Royal Court Christmas show.

The story takes a fresh, witty spin on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Jacob Marley is dead, but nobody knows who’s behind it. Enter Mary Marley—his missus—who’s on a mission to find the killer, and she’s got her sights firmly set on one suspect: Scrooge. But how will she make him own up to the crime?

Ebeneezer might be a miserable old geezer, but he’s always had a soft spot for Mary. Unfortunately for him, she’s now ghosting him—literally—with the help of the Scratchitt family and Mr Kettiwig.

Can Scrooge learn his lesson in time? Will Marley be avenged by three little birds? And will Charlie Dicko spin in his grave so fast that a sinkhole opens up? There’s only one way to find out…

The creative team behind last year’s smash-hit Christmas show is back, with a cast and live band all ready to sign on the dotted line for Liverpool’s biggest festive production.

Expect the usual mix of sharp Scouse humour, top tunes, and a Christmas night out that’s anything but traditional.
