The stars are coming out for a virtual Carol Concert for Maggie’s Merseyside

Maggie’s Merseyside is hosting a free virtual carol concert with festive readings from actors Keeley Hawes, Stanley Tucci, Dominic West and James Norton.
The service, Maggie’s Carols in the Kitchen, will be held on Sunday, December 13 at 6pm in support of people with cancer this Christmas.
As well as the actors taking part, there will be a musical performance by Lulu and it will be hosted by TV presenter and newsreader Fiona Bruce.
And a brand-new choral commission from composer Eric Whitacre, written especially for Maggie’s, will be premiered at the concert.
Says a spokesperson for Maggie’s: “After a testing year, it promises to be the perfect festive evening for the whole family.”
The carol concert will offer people the chance to support Maggie’s Merseyside which needs help ‘now more than ever’ – and take part in a prize draw to win a guitar signed by music legend Ed Sheeran!
The concert is totally free and you can register online with a link on its Facebook page here.
The charity adds: “Coronavirus has had a huge impact on people with cancer. Screenings have been missed, treatments have been altered and surgeries postponed.
“For some there will be unbearable mental anguish as they learn that their cancer is no longer treatable or survivable.”
With help, though, Maggie’s says it can continue to provide emotional and practical support to everyone who needs it:
£15 can pay for someone to get one-to-one help with money worries from home
£50 can pay for a family to attend one of our kids’ days, which helps children to understand and come to terms with mum or dad having cancer
£100 can pay for three people to work through difficult feelings with a psychologist on the phone
