Your ultimate guide to Valentine’s Day in Liverpool with Arriva

05/02/2020

Lovers of Liverpool, prepare to set hearts a-flutter, because Cupid is once again poised with his bow and arrow, ready to send it shooting in your direction.

February 14 is Valentine’s Day – or St Valentine’s Day to be precise – recognised as a celebration of love and romance around the world.

St Valentine was a 3rd Century roman saint imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and ministering to Christians persecuted under the Roman empire. According to legend, he restored sight to the blind daughter of his judge and wrote her a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell before his execution.

Now we’re not expecting miracles, but if you can’t conjure up a show of love, or offer even a small token of your affection to the significant other in your life, then it’s a poor do!

Liverpool might not be known as the city of love, but it can give Paris a run for its money when it comes with places to go and things to do to pledge your undying ‘amour’.

We’ve got some of the most romantic restaurants, an events list as long as your arm, and a wealth of ways to help woo ‘the one’!

Getting around with Arriva Buses

You don’t even need to worry about how you’re going to get into town to get that great gift or take up your table for two – because Arriva Buses has got an army of vehicles circling the city and the Merseyside area waiting to transport you to where you need to go so can pursue your perfect passion.

There’s a full timetable of routes on their website here as well as a handy app, or demand your own timetable with ArrivaClick, to make sure you don’t keep your date waiting.

And, if you do get bored on the journey – or there’s a bit of last minute prep or ordering to do – Arriva can connect you to free WiFi, and there’s a range of onboard entertainment from podcasts, games and eBooks (there might even be a Mills and Boon!).

With Arriva you can even enjoy that glass of Fizz or two with your Valentine’s Day dinner without having to worry about being over the limit – or stressing about where to park.

So there’s no excuse not to fall head over heels with February 14, and, to help here’s our Liverpool Love Bible to guide you through Valentine’s Day 2020:

Great gifts in store

Liverpool ONE

You won’t be stuck for ideas if you head to the city shopping mecca with a big name stores like Debenhams and John Lewis and a few independent retailers too. Without wishing to be sexist – of course – our money would be on a fab designer bag from Michael Kors or Kate Spade, or a Day Spa voucher from Beauty Bazaar Harvey Nichols for her, and perhaps something sporty for him from Sports Direct or, of course, LFC or Everton’s massive stores. If you’re going to be a little naughty this Valentine’s – and why not?! – Ann Summers can help get you all loved up. On our wish list though would be the new Vetiver & Golden Vanilla Cologne Intense from Jo Malone for her and perhaps, for him, the essential Oxford shirt from Ben Sherman. Well, you want him smart!
