The Whitechapel Centre to host fashion fundraiser at Open Door
1 year ago
Open Door is a charity shop run by The Whitechapel Centre, a leading homeless and housing charity in the Liverpool region.
Open Door, the Whitechapel Centre’s charity shops, are once again running their popular fundraising event called Fill a Bag.
This year, the event will be held on Monday 2 October at Leaf on Bold Street in Liverpool.
Tickets are £12 and guarantee entrance to the event. For that price, participants will receive a carrier bag which they can fill with as many items of clothing as they can fit in.
Susan Ryder, Retail Manager, said:
“You might find a seasonal piece like a vintage jumper, that you can wear to celebrate the changing seasons. Or a unique piece, such as a vintage find or a handmade item that will add a touch of personality to your wardrobe. It is a lucky dip, so you will never know what you are going to uncover. Usually you can fit 6-7 items in the bag which works out at around £2 an item.
“We are confident that you will find something that you love, even if it is not the exact item that you were hoping for. The most important thing is to come with an open mind and be willing to take a chance. You might just be surprised at what you find!”
The event will have a two-hour time slot, with afternoon (3pm-5pm) and evening (6pm-8pm) sessions. The organisers will add items throughout the 2-hour period and will do a total restock between slots.
More bags can be purchased on the evening if you are lucky enough to fill your bag and find more gems.
The event is a great way to refresh your wardrobe, support a local homeless charity and have some fun.
