The Wizard of Oz lands at St Helens Theatre Royal this October half term
2 days ago

There’s no place like St Helens Theatre Royal this October half term as the much-loved tale The Wizard of Oz returns for a fun-filled adventure.
Running during half term, from Saturday 25 to Friday 31 October, the show promises a magical experience for the whole family as Regal Entertainments brings the classic story back to the stage.
Follow Dorothy and Toto as they journey along the yellow brick road, meeting familiar favourites like Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Lion along the way. But will the Wicked Witch stop them from reaching the Emerald City? Or will Glinda lend a helping hand so they can finally meet the Wizard?
Packed with toe-tapping songs, fabulous costumes, and plenty of laughs, the show is perfect for families looking for some half term entertainment.
The cast features Chantelle Morgan as Dorothy, fresh from her role as Fairy Rose in Beauty and the Beast earlier this year. She’ll be joined by X Factor and Eton Road star David Heath as the Scarecrow, Shea Ferron—semi-finalist in Britain’s Got Talent with Johns’ Boys Male Chorus—as the Tin Man, and Conor Barrie as the lovable Lion.

Hayley Russell returns as Glinda, while St Helens favourite Katy McKenna will take on the role of the Wicked Witch. Warren Donnelly, best known as Stan in Shameless, appears as the Wizard.
The show is directed by Chantelle Joseph, with choreography from Nazene Langfield and music supervision by Callum Clarke.
Chantelle Morgan is no stranger to St Helens audiences, having starred in Snow White earlier this year and in several other panto favourites. David Heath also makes a welcome return, having previously played Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk and starred in a number of festive productions across the North West.
Shea Ferron brings serious vocal talent to the role of the Tin Man, having performed alongside Alfie Boe and helped his chorus group win international acclaim. Conor Barrie is back after recent roles at the theatre in Beauty and the Beast and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Katy McKenna’s panto CV speaks for itself, with regular appearances in hit shows across Merseyside. And TV regular Warren Donnelly brings plenty of experience to the role of the Wizard, with a long list of stage and screen credits to his name.

Chantelle Joseph, who also manages the theatre, said:
“The Wizard of Oz is a timeless story that always brings people together. It’s brilliant to see kids, parents and grandparents all enjoying the show side by side. We’ve brought back some of our most popular performers and packed the production with everything our audiences love—colourful sets, big tunes and a lot of heart. It’s going to be a cracking half term.”
