Imagine seeing thrill seekers flying over you when doing your shopping in Liverpool. They’d be attached to a huge zip wire from the top of St. Johns Beacon in Liverpool City Centre, as Zip World announces Liverpool plans
Zip World is one of the UK’s leading adrenaline filled experience brands and home to the fastest zip line in the world. Now it is planning to open an experience right here in Liverpool, that will tower above our city.
Planning documents have been submitted to Liverpool City Council Planning Department for the company’s first urban zip line in Liverpool. The plans will see customers travel from the top of the iconic St Johns Beacon part of the St Johns Shopping Centre on a zip line and landing at the top of the historic Liverpool Central Library. Scheduled opening for the attraction will be in 2021.
This will be the company’s first zip line outside of Wales, and the first permanent city zip in the UK, creating new local full time and part time employment opportunities for Liverpool. The design will see two riders dispatched at a time in a sit-down style harness, travelling across the cityscape.
The brand’s decision to submit plans in Liverpool reinforces the strong ties the city has to North Wales.
ZIP WORLD, is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the UK, with three world class destinations across the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. Each location is carefully scouted for its natural beauty and the brand works sympathetically with the landscape to create groundbreaking, exhilarating and award winning adventures.
Zip World’s innovation has seen it achieve many notable firsts, including Zip World Velocity 2 being the fastest zip line in the world and longest in Europe, Zip World Titan as the largest zip zone in Europe, and having the largest subterranean playground in Zip World Bounce Below and Zip World Caverns.
