There’s a Charity Bin Truck Pull for Liverpool’s Whitechapel Centre this week
4 years ago

On Wednesday 17th October, teams from six companies, including Everton FC and Merseyrail will be carrying out the ultimate test of strength by trying to pull a 17 tonne bin truck at the world-famous Aintree racecourse.
They’re competing to see who can pull the truck for the Final Furlong, in the fastest time, in a huge fundraising challenge for Liverpool Homelessness Charity The Whitechapel Centre.
The Gaskells Whitechapel Centre Charity Truck Pull 2018 is taking place at Aintree Racecourse on Wednesday 17th October.
Team Gaskells will be first off the block, setting the pace with the first pull of the day, and then each team will take turns in hourly slots, with the final pull being at 4pm.

Everton FC
Merseyrail
Reconomy
Pakawaste
Vehicle Weighing Solutions
Each company has donated £250 to the Whitechapel Centre to take part, and Roydon Recycling has also donated a staggering £1,000 to the charity.
The Whitechapel Centre is the leading homelessness charity for the Liverpool region, and recent figures show it’s now the busiest it’s ever been. They supported a record 4,025 people who were experiencing housing difficulties or homelessness during 2017/18, almost 1,000 more than the previous year. Sadly, there are no signs of the numbers of people needing help are slowing down.
Gaskells Commercial Director Denise Banks said “This is part of a month of fundraising we’re doing, for The Whitechapel Centre, as the work they do for homeless people in and around Liverpool is absolutely invaluable. Today’s event should be great, and we hope, along with raising valuable money, it will also raise awareness of the work the charity does. As we head towards the winter, and more cold weather, people sleeping rough are more at risk than ever before, so we’re proud to be supporting the Whitechapel Centre.”
