There’s a Sober Rave coming to The Brink with DJ Lee Butler

Legendary DJ, Lee Butler will bring his first ever sour rave to the Brink this month

The Brink, Liverpool’s only purpose-built dry bar, will welcome local DJ superstar Lee Butler to headline a sober rave on Friday, December 20.

The event, titled ‘Freedom to Party’, will offer an alcohol and drug-free environment soundtracked by one of the most popular selectors in Liverpool and other special guests.

All the money raised from ticket sales will go towards supporting The Brink in its aims to help people who are in recovery from addiction and their families.

Earlier this year, Lee Butler spoke out about his own struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, which impacted his health, marriage and job, but after receiving support, he bounced back and has now been sober for three years.

Lee said: “It’s been incredible to work on the sober rave with The Brink. It will definitely prove that you don’t need to drink or take drugs to enjoy music and get involved on the dancefloor. Recovery is hard when you’re in the usual social spaces, so it’s great to be able to offer the same experience in a safe environment.

“The support that The Brink offers to those in recovery is second to none, and I think it’s great that they can offer amazing social events alongside that key support.”

The Huyton-born DJ and producer began his successful career spinning in the likes of The State, Quadrant Park and Club 051, and has previously been named Liverpool Echo DJ of the Year. He’s currently a presenter on Radio City and regularly plays to huge crowds across the UK at clubbing events and festivals.

Lee will be joined at ‘Freedom to Party’ by old-school house favourites DJ Robbie Edwards and DJ Sie Austin.

The Brink, which is located on Parr Street, is a pivotal place for those affected by addiction and offers a stigma-free environment that plays an important role within the local community.

General Manager at The Brink Carl Bell said: “We’re excited to bring a sober rave to Liverpool city centre, particularly during the festive period, which is often associated with boozy nights out whether that’s with friends or colleagues. For those in recovery, it can be a difficult time and can often lead to people feeling isolated and unable to take part in group events. Our event has been designed to offer a fun alternative to the usual bar crawls and club nights without the presence of alcohol.”

Owned by national charity Action on Addiction, The Brink continues to raise awareness of the life-threatening impact that alcohol and drug use can have on society whilst offering a safe space for those affected, including friends and families.

Freedom to Party: A Sober Rave will run from 8pm to 1am on December 20 and is 18+ only.

Tickets are priced at ÂŁ10 and are available online at www.outallnight.co.uk/freedom-to-party-a-sober-rave/
