There’s even more fun to be had at Pier Head Village throughout August
7 years ago
The list of what is on offer at the Pier Head Village this summer is endless and this weekend marks the start of a never before seen challenge.
As part of the summer long celebrations at Liverpool’s Pier Head Village, award-winning wood sculptor, Simon O’Rourke, begins his most ambitious challenge to date on Sunday 6th August 2017. While we’re all having a lazy day and looking forward to a Sunday roast, Simon will be transforming four tree trunks into life-sized statues of The Beatles from 12pm and he’s starting with Macca. The 39-year-old will tackle this mammoth 24-hour long task over three Sundays in August, finishing with John Lennon on Bank Holiday Monday (August 28th).
As with all events on the Pier Head Village, the ‘Creating the Beatles’ installation is a free to enter event for the general public and will coincide with an unlimited supply of Beatles smash hits and some surprise special guests, playing from the surrounding Beach Bar at the Pier Head Village.
The BIG THRILL CHALLENGE is on! Our Mark Byron gave it a go – money goes to Variety Children’s Charity and you can hear the screams from Birkenhead!
The fun doesn’t stop there, ploughing ahead into August there’s something for everyone as Pier Head Village operates 7 days a week, from 11am til 11pm, right up until 10th September. In the coming weeks you can enjoy open mic nights on Thursdays, a Heart FM take over day on Sunday 13th August, the unbeatable Sunday Sunset Sessions with resident DJ’s Andy Carroll and Co plus a British Music Experience day coming soon.
The world heritage site that is Pier Head has already been enjoyed by many millions of people from around the globe and what event organiser, Martin O’Shea hopes, is that more scousers will also come and check out the iconic buildings and stunning views that lay right on our door step too.
With a jam-packed programme of fun still to come this summer, there’s still time to treat the kids, or your better half to a turn on the thrill rides or maybe just a chill out with a cold bev in the sun!
