This is what happened during Global Scouse Day 2017
6 years ago

What a day we had for Global Scouse Day 2017, over 150 Liverpool venues took part in spreading the scouse love throughout the city and in fact all over the planet. #GlobalScouseDay was trending all day long and thousands of people were treated to hundreds of variations of our Mums favourite dish.
Many places donated £1 from every bowl or dish served to charities such as Woodlands Hospice and Whitechapel Liverpool. Virgin Trains were serving up scouse across their network, the Echo Arena had scouse on the menu in the staff canteen and even schools and nurseries like Aigburth Hall Nursery got involved too.
Maray Liverpool were serving up free scouse for those in need at the top of Bold Street and the highlight of the day had to be the ‘Scouse-Off’ at 60 Hope Street where Spire Restaurant was crowned winner of best scouse in the city.
We started our day with a trip to leafy Allerton to see what the gang at the Old Stables were dishing up, before heading to Maggie Mays, Bold Street to meet founder Graeme Hughes to find out more about the history of GSD. Next up was Mister Miyagis for scouse spring rolls, Lucha Libre for scouse tacos, Rigbys on Dale Street for a bowl of traditional scouse, Soul Café and Santa Maluco for scouse pizza!
We also tucked in at The Bagelry, McKenzies and Free State Kitchen for a scouse burger before practically rolling down to Button Street Smokehouse. It’s no wonder we need a sit down after all that!
