The countdown to Grand Opening Day is on!

It’s show time! Grand Opening Day at Aintree Racecourse marks the beginning of a world-wide sporting event and all eyes will be on Liverpool. No stranger to being the centre of attention, there’s a buzz around the city as guys and girls turn up the glamour for a day out at the races and the good news is there are some tickets still available here.

Grand Opening Day begins at 11am when the gates open for the first time. Social media will be alight as we clamour to get a look at the first outfits, celebs and of course, the first horses past the finishing post. With tickets from just £30 general entry, offers for young racing fans and a very special on-site brunch event, Grand National Thursday is the day to truly stand out from the crowds.

1 – Show Time!

The rush of being amongst the first through the gates on Grand National weekend is unbeatable. If you’re hoping to make the papers with your glamourous outfit, this is prime time to strike a pose ahead of the crowds at Ladies Day. Get a first look at the Red Rum Garden, first to pop a celebratory cork at the bar and first to back a winner!

2 – The Red Devils

The Randox Health Grand National is all about the spectacle. The fashion and style, the thrilling sport and of course, the exhilaration of seeing your filly ride like the wind to the finishing post. Adding a whole new dimension to the Aintree spectacle, The Red Devils will be parachuting in on Grand Opening Day and Soprano Laura Wright is back to belt out the National Anthem making us all swell with pride. 3 – Racing Welfare Brunch

If you’re a huge fan of horse racing, the Scudamore Family invite you to enjoy a thrilling day of jumps, brunch and a rare insight into one of the most successful families in the sport. 5 – Post Race Entertainment

The last race on Grand Opening Day takes place at 5:15pm but that’s not the end of the days entertainment. Head over to the Aintree Pavilion to see The Mersey Beatles perform live. having performed at The Cavern more times than the actual Beatles, these lads will have the pavilion rocking with all your favourite fab four tracks – try saying that after a few prosecco!

6 – Start As You Mean to Go On

Whether you back a winner or a bit of a donkey on Grand Opening Day it doesn’t matter. With a brilliant atmosphere, plenty of race action and all the glamour, start your weekend as you mean to go on and head back into the city with Merseyrail to continue to the party.
